Quiet, cheap, and clean

The Regency used to be in the Americas Best Value Inn chain, and that is reflected in the unchanged interior decor and hotel receipts which have one name on top and the other name on the bottom. Contrary to what another reviewer said, the motel is at the west end of town directly on highway 6, which was the main drag long before there was an interstate 80. The area and the motel were both quiet, which is the main thing I look for more than the star rating. I also paid $70 plus tax for a total of $77 and change for two people, substantially less than the Best Western just off the exit and there is plenty of parking. The "breakfast" is only coffee and juice, but that was no big deal. We slept well which is the most important thing on a road trip. The room, bed, and bathroom were clean which is also very important. I will point out a couple of minor annoyances so you will be aware of them. In this age of covid, it bothered me that I had to reach through the heavy partial room drapes and the shams in order to reach the blackout curtains and close them. Like many motels, the sink is in the main room instead of the bathroom so you have to go in and out of the bath room more. Second, said bathroom door opened to the room door so if anyone was trying to get in or ouf the room while someone else was coming in or out of the bathroom, the two doors hit. There was a microwave and small fridge but no alarm clock. I know most people carry and program phones smarter than they are but when I wake up in a strange place in the middle of the night it is strangely comforting to see the numbers glowing on a bedside clock. Ice machine worked. I did not see an elevator, so if mobility is an issue get a first floor room. Also, for the elderly or disabled or small children, at least in our room the toilet and bath had no grab bars and there was not a non slip surface so we just put one of the towels down on the floor.
Had a good stay.

Comfortable room, had a pool which the wife used but water to cold for me. Didn't have any breakfast stuff out just coffee but that was minor. staff where all friendly. The on annoying thing was kids or immature adults running up and down hall ways above us Overall I'd stay there again if in the area!
GOOD VALUE WITH FRIENDLY STAFF. CLEAN AND SUBSTANTIAL BREAKFAST

While this is off of the main street part of town, it's easy to find. Friendly staff and helpful. Very pleasantly surprised with breakfast as it had a very simple pancake making machine - just press a button and the machine does the rest. Also very pleasantly surprised with the Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich choices. Nice variety of breakfast items for sure. Nice and clean breakfast area. Coffee machines are available 24 hours a day. Room was clean and beds very comfy. Room cost was much less than Best Western - a good value. Hotel was clean. Does have a small pool, although we didn't use it. We would stay there again if in that area. We were there for a memorial mass and family reunion. NOTE: I tried to write in the box below that asked for additional info/tips but it wouldn't let me, so I'll put those comments here. (1) They do change the wi-fi password every Friday. They give you a piece of paper (if you ask) with the instructions on how to enter it (simple) but if the p/w doesn't work, go to the front desk and tell them, because they may have given you paper with an old p/w on it. (2) This is a tip for Housekeeping if management is reading this....The window sills need to be wiped down, especially during the summer months. Otherwise, we found the room clean and comfortable. I did clean off the sill myself. I don't go looking for things to report/clean, but when I went to open the curtains, I noticed it needed to be cleaned. (3) It might be worth it to the hotel to have a shower stool with round seat on hand. I asked for one but there wasn't any available. They're not expensive and having one on hand could mean the difference of satisfaction to some customers. I was okay without it but I have back issues and that weekend, after a long drive from Michigan (9 hours), a shower stool would've been welcomed by my back.
The people are crooks, go on down the road

Went to Best Western, checked cost was a bit pricey, left went to gas, where woman told us about this place, not on main road. After we left, found they billed card twice, when complained they said we made a reservation, (never knew about the place til just before we checked it), then someone here, used card number to pay for something they brought from California, contacted the police, room was nothing special, toilet rocked back and forth, hotel stunk like something burnt, woman at the desk smoking inside. Breakfast was uneventful, as kid working didnt even show up till half and hour after was supose to be open to guests.Advise, spent a small bit more and stay somewhere else.
Decent, Quick stop, Comfortable, and Convenient location

Last minute stop with family and was convenient, and clean room. Nothing overly impressive, but definitely not bad! Friendly staff, and breakfast was all self serve microwave items... just average, but at least something. We came late and didn't have swimming gear or the kids would have enjoyed the pool. . Decent value for price.
