SCOTTISH GUESTS: AVOID - Terrible Experience, SCAMMED by Uncommunicative Customer Service

Reviewed 28 july, 2020

- This company is set up to SCAM fellow SCOTTISH guests with a hidden term on their website. - They CONFIRMED my booking, took my money, and acted like everything was fine. - I turned up on the day and was NOT provided with ANY check in information. I was left in the COLD & RAIN and received NO COMMUNICATION from the company no matter how much I tried. - Their phone number is NOT ACTIVE - it's not even a real number. There is NO WAY to communicate with this company and they take days to respond. - We were not given access to the property at all. After waiting 2 hours we had to leave and find somewhere else. They simply did not intend for us to say, and did not even tell us this in advance. - Afterwards, I was outraged. I asked for an explanation and a refund. They claimed I was not entitled to one and still have taken ALL of my money. - They say a hidden term means GLASGOW residents can't stay - even though they are happy to take your money and pretend the booking is confirmed and okay. - To make matters worse, I am NOT a Glasgow resident. I stay elsewhere in SCOTLAND - outside Glasgow City Council. Yet they still are ignoring me and STEALING MY MONEY. - IF YOU ARE SCOTTISH - AVOID THIS ACCOMMODATION. They will scam you, take your money, refuse a refund, not communicate, and leave you in the cold.

Could be great

I am completely torn about how to review this property. There are many pros but I think they are outweighed by the cons. For me an excellent locaton as I was staying wilst my mother was having surgery at Glasgow Royal. Walking distance with excellent cafe below (fabulous staff) where I could get something to eat although apartment has everything you need if you want to cook. Two bedrooms although I only needed one and had a couple of great sleeps due to comfy bed and nice fresh bedding. Problems with the shower turning it off as it needed brute strength to get it properly closed. The biggest issue was the lift was not working. I have a dodgy knee and thankfully I only had 2 flights to go up and not 4 like the exhausted lady I spoke to en route. The other downside is I don't like the keypad system as no-one on site to give you a key. At night I was lucky I had the flashlight on my phone to see the keypad. I also did not feel 100% safe as a solo traveller. Would only stay again if the lift was working.

Dodgy - still not had all my money back

Booked for myself and 70 year old parents. Money was taken from my account almost a week before staying. Was given code via E-Mail. Entered every door using code. Nice apartment. Went for dinner then concert. Came back about 11pm ready for a cuppa then bed. Code would not work. No answer on any contact number. No security at property (notice on door states there is). Fake camera at door of property. Door was coming away from surrounds (showed signs of previous damage). Ended up flagging down police (after a couple of hours in the cold in a strange city) who made sure we got to the nearest Premier Inn who were amazing and even gave us a voucher for free breakfast. My father had to pay for this on his credit card. 8 weeks of chasing via E-Mail and finally get the £92 but no sign of £52 yet. Attitude on a couple of occasions from staff starting with the Clock Tower Cafe below to my father when he was trying to get our belongings back (I had work so had to get back) and when he was separately get his £92 back. Apart from initially when I gave a police incident number which they took offence to. I was not threatening with this, only using as proof. Police actually said property is a fire hazard. Since this, a friend who booked them had his booking cancelled the day before a charity event that he had arranged a year in advance. He met people who said they were booked into apartment so the company knew in advance that they had double-booked. Absolutely disgusting company, going by Cathedral Apartments/Clock Tower/S1Group/Joli Apartment and probably lots of other names. If I could give zero, I would. Please think carefully before booking with this company who are listed on Hotels.com, Booking.com and probably more. Hotels.com have offered us a £20 voucher but Booking.com not interested/refuse to listen to our feedback. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

great for the price

I don't normally write reviews on tripadvisor but I felt I had to for this place. I was staying for 5 days as I was attending a training course in Glasgow, although there may be a few minor maintenance issues (light bulb out and rough plastering in spots) it wasn't a big deal. I've worked in 5 star hotels and I know these things happen. For the price I can't fault it.

Avoid at all costs

I booked 3 appartments here for a family stay so that we could attend a surprise birthday party. There was 9 guests in total. I called the hotel to make sure this was ok as it states on the websites that no hen or stag parties are welcome. On speaking to a member of the staff he told me this would be fine so i thought great!!. The money was taken from my account on the friday before i was due to to travel to glasgow from durham. The next day i received an email to say that me and my partner would not be welcome as they do not accept group bookings, and on checking the website was told this would be non refundable. I spent 2 days trying to contact the apartments with no luck but finally arranged to have my room refunded. I then set off from durham to glasgow on the following Saturday and received a phone call from the appartment to say that another room that i had booked was no longer available due to a broken boiler. So out of 3 rooms booked we ended up with 1. I was told that the money would be refunded within 12 days, leaving majority of the party with no where to stay on a bank holiday weekend in glasgow. I wouldnt trust these idiots as far as i could throw them!
