Family stay

Reviewed 6 january, 2022

Just back from a family get away. We stayed in a 3 bed lodge with bedrooms on bottom floor living area and kitchen dining space all on one open plan area. Very happy with the size and layout. Lots of crockery and utensils. Very warm and cosy with plenty hot water. Beds very comfy. More time could be taken to dust behind and under things. Kick boars need a good scrub. Other than that the lodge was great. The grounds were lovely, thought there would be more walks but with a buggy not so easy so had to just walk around grounds a few times feeding chicken, ducks and watching the squirrels. Hired bikes but they could do with a bit of attention. We used the spa a couple times water nice and warm. My daughter and myself had treatments by Brenda which we enjoyed. The bar is lovely and cosy and could happily sit all night. I feel a bit more for the children would be good but other than that we really enjoyed it.

We had our Silver Wedding diner and stay here in 2018 and they went above and beyond, we’ve returned for a four day family break and booked a New Years Eve meal. The meal was delicious five course and five star. The staff although having to work Hogmanay were courteous and nothing was too much bother for them. Would highly recommend this country estate for a break. Two visits both very special. Well done guys.

Lovely lodge in a secluded forested area.

I must begin by saying I cannot comment on price since this was a treat for the family from my Son in Law. The lodge was clean and modern, had a well equipped kitchen, large living area with additional fold out bed. Modern television, balcony and lots of bird life, occasional red squirrel and I believe a wild cat visited and slowly walked across the grounds in front of us! Tidy, well kept grounds with extra Christmas lighting during our stay. The spa and pool were clean and warm. Food was available as take away only during our stay, presumably due to Covid restrictions. Electric heating needed uprating and it took a day to understand how it worked. Hot water from immersion heater, not a problem so long as a family gives time for reheating water when bathing/ showering. A small games room with air hockey, pool and coin machines for children. The staff were all delightful. The estate is handy for visiting many attractions in the area and I am sure there are some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. You can visit by train, Gleneagles station is about one and a half miles from the estate..

Needs some investment in the place

We spent a long weekend in one of the lodges , well equipped and very clean lodges but absolutely freezing inside, the heating and insulation need some serious investment to bring the lodges up to date. The staff are absolutely brilliant, so friendly and helpful.

Lovely stay

Spent my birthday weekend here with my mum. The hotel is so lovely - perfectly clean, cosy and warm, in a location that is peaceful but not out of the way. Comfortable beds and modernised bathrooms make the hotel a great place to stay. Only tiny niggle is that the design of the tap and sink make it very splashy and easy to accidentally spill onto the floor, and it takes a good while to get cold water to come out - but nothing that causes any real issues. The restaurant was closed for dining in due to C-19 staffing issues, but were offering a takeaway service that we arguably enjoyed even more for being able to relax in our room to enjoy! Our dinner was delivered very efficiently and was delicious, with multiple good vegetarian options even on this reduced service. Sticky toffee pudding was especially tasty. Staff dropping food off were lovely, friendly and welcoming, as were all of the staff we met. The leisure centre was as clean as the hotel, fairly small but with a good offering and not overcrowded. We booked treatments with Beauty by Brenda which were lovely and exceptional value compared to many similar places.
