DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!
I booked a room and they charged me an extra $170 because they said I smoked in it, which was a down right LIE!!!! I tried to talk with the owner many times but he refused to return my call. I went to the office and they said that the owner was gone for the day. Do not stay here they will rip you off!!!!!!!!!!! REV. Joseph Marcum
Acceptable modestly priced motel
Given that Grass Valley is fairly pricey and often full, we were grateful to find an affordable, decent room for a last minute stay. This is an older property but our room was clean and the bed comfortable except for ridiculously overstuffed pillows that left us with stiff necks. The shower and fluffy towels were great and the TV, Internet and frighted all worked. The "continental breakfast" is minimal, but included Keurig coffee, fruit, and snack bars that we nibbled for an afternoon treat. We were disappointed to find ourselves with a queen bed rather than the king we'd reserved. Otherwise, the place exceeded our modest expectations. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd stay there again for a quick overnight.
Last room available, expand your search
Booked a room for an impromtu trip and had very little choice on available rooms in the area. The website looked acceptable and after all, we needed a room. Upon arrival the staff was not very personable, but polite. The room itself was clean and had been recently remodeled. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The issues I had were the AC unit had mold growing in the fins and itt was 100 degrees, the road noise was a bit too load, and the guests were not the most refined or courteous with regard to noise and actions. Overall, it met our need for a nights rest (mostly), but I would not consider returning.
Can't recommend this place
The hotel looked a lot better in the booking photos than it actually does. Pre-1970's motel. Doesn't look like it's been updated since then. Lobby is extremely outdated and unwelcoming. You park at your door or close to it. With the people milling around, of questionable appearance, I wondered if I would be safe staying here. Old-fashioned key locks on the doors. Questionable dead bolts - mine only seemed to close half way. I used a chair wedged under the doorknob at night. Wild west motif in rooms. Each entry door has a name and that's the style of decor on the inside. The inside is well worn. Carpet is worn. Linoleum is worn. Walls are worn. Room furniture is extremely well worn. Peeling paint and floors. (See pictures) Had to ask for a TV remote, wasn't one in the room. Walls are not well insulated for sound proofing. Could easily hear my neighbors. I had booked two days. When I returned to my room the second day, it hadn't been cleaned. Bed was unmade, towels were where I left them in the morning. Called front desk and was told the cleaning staff had marked it down as having been cleaned. They offered to bring towels, but nothing else. Air-conditioning had a hard time keeping room cool when it's hot outside. Never quite got to what I would consider a comfortable temperature. Obviously, if I'm in the area again, I won't stay here. I recommend you avoid this place. Worst part is, it wasn't a cheap price. Unfortunately, not a lot of hotels in the area.
YOU HAVE TO BE DESPERATE!
You would have to be desperate to stay here! Old, dirty, falling apart - bed covers had long blond hairs and long brown hairs. I had short black hair. Afraid to walk on floor. Filthy!!!! Checked out early. Could not stay another night.
