I cannot compliment the staff enough- front desk Thomas and new head of housekeeping were helpful friendly and professional. But Marriott needs to invest in this property if they want to continue to compete on the region.
The room we were initially given smelled of stale smoke, had pink mold on the tub surround, something sticky on the nightstand handle, a sofa cushion bottom completely torn off, and the floor behind the bathroom door was clearly not swept.
We were quickly moved and while this room was much better it also has stained, worn carpet and upholstery. We initial thought the glass doors on the kitchenette cabinets were frosted but they actually seemed to have oily swirls of damage. The shower curtain was missing two rings, the liner was stiff and smelled of mildew, and was so short it only grazed the tub so every morning the bathroom floor ended up soaked.
The bed was very comfortable, however.
Not a fan of the policy to ony have one set of towels in a one bedroom king suite reserved for two adult guests (one bath, one hand and one washcloth) . Staff were very gracious in supplying us with additional, but even budget hotels provide two sets.
Fyi also that due to COVID no wonderful breakfast buffet. They did the best they could with wrapped Bob Evans Sandwiches, sealed cups of cereal and oatmeal and yoghurt. But I really missed the hot food.
Given the high price point for Residence we get this was a big problem. With so may other options of where to stay, this was $50 per night of an overcharge. Owner needs to refresh I'd they want to see us back.

Our room (on first floor):
*checkout time is noon, checkin at 3pm. easy process both ways.
*slow-draining sink & shower...we were afraid the shower was going to overflow onto the bathroom floor
*gross black mold in shower
*no hairdryer provided
*no coffee maker was in room (but there was coffee)
*no hot breakfast (on a Saturday?!?) but were given brown bags that contained a chocolate muffin, a stale nutrigrain bar, room temp bottle of water, and an over-ripe orange.
*in-room coffee was gross (housekeeping gave us a coffeemaker to use)....front desk clerk has a coffee urn behind counter with regular coffee, no decaf, she can get you a cup from there (no thanks), admits the in room coffee "is pretty bad"
*bed is a little too firm for my liking but pillows were comfortable
*both the sofa and desk chair had some pretty suspicious-looking stains on them.
*i did not see ONE staff member wearing a mask. and thry are required. not front desk, cleaning crew, etc. no one had a mask on the entire time we stayed.
Probably would not stay again.

This hotel is exceptional in every since of the word!! The Manger Ryan is so welcoming and friendly. I’m an ambassador elite with Marriott. I’ve stayed in countless Marriott properties all over the world. This hotel has the best costumer service iv ever seen. Thomas, Sara, Kelly Ann, and Dan work the front desk and do an amazing job!! The rooms in this hotel are very well appointed with one to two bedroom options, living rooms and kitchens. The perfect place for an extended stay. I highly recommend this hotel to visitors. I look forward to my next stay in Akron , and I will definitely be back as a guest of the Residence inn Akron south!!!! Keep up the good work guys👍👍

We stayed here three weekends ago and I didn’t want to forget to write this review.
This was hands down the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We stayed here while in town for a small family wedding and we were extremely disappointed with the “extra” cleaning measures taken during the COVID pandemic. If this was “extra” I cannot imagine what the cleanliness level would be regularly. Multiple family members had rooms with something gross in them, ranging from used tampons to hair on the floors and dirty bedside tables. It was unacceptable and I can’t believe we spent what we did on our stay. The hallways smelled of pot and there were many people in and out of rooms and dogs without leashes.
The cherry on top was the loud party going on in the room directly above ours from about midnight to 4:30 am. The light fixtures were shaking from the movement and loud music above. Even with complaints to the front desk, the party continued. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, EVER.
The manager was polite, but that was literally the only positive thing about this location.

Excellent hotel, very comfortable spacious suite, and very convenient to shopping. Vincent at the front desk was very welcoming and made recommendations for several excellent restaurants. Breakfast was ok, not great. Made good use and enjoyed the exercise room.
