Nice concept & location, needs improvement
The hotel is well located, close to restaurants and cafés. It is modern and very clean with L'Occitane room amenities, nice room space and wooden floors. Here's what I think needs improvement: lighting in the rooms is very dim; light in the toilet room is so dim you can't see anything without leaving the door open. There are way too many light switches in the room which one has to turn on and off individually: entrance hallway, shower, sink, toilet, desk, each bed, plus A/C. The room also needs a full body mirror; the only mirror in the room is a sink-top face mirror, not even one in front of the sink. I didn't like the concept of the bathroom divided by a transparent glass wall, particularly in a room with 2 beds. Awful if you're sharing! Lastly, the restaurant and bar hours are very short and close too early.
Excellent Rooms, Service and Location
I am a senior citizen traveling with friends to GDL and our selection of Love it Hotel was an excellent choice. Good location, EXCELLENT staff service, rooms were spacious and clean. One note, if you are a light sleeper I suggest a non-streetside room as there is a nightclub across the street.
Not what it seems
First we got to the hotel good location for food and shopping. We ended up booking online for 2 adults 1 kid which included breakfast. But we ended up being 3 adults 1 kid so we decided to upgrade to a suit so we payed the difference and they charged for the extra person. I said ok but it will include breakfast for the extra person they refused to add breakfast and charged breakfast for the extra person. When we got to the suit it had a weird smell but when we turned in the AC it went away for a short time. The shower had a broken tile and when we decided to pull out the bed from the couch there was a old food wrapper. As you can see in the pictures I added below. The second bathroom smelled bad from the pipes was so bad we couldn't even use it. Looks nice but overall bad service broken things and bad smell.
Worst hotel/worst service
The hotel is located next to a club that plays extremely loud music until 4 am. Insulation is poor so it feels as if you are in the club. Music plays Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So you might to stay someplace else those nights. Aside from the horrible music, the service is poor. Employees seem to be slow.
Nice property, really bad management.
I stayed at Love It for the third time in less than a year and I can tell first hand that the hotel is worst every time. I booked a two night stay but had to leave after the first after a series of problems that I'll describe: 1. Upon arrival, the room given to me had a problem: the wooden floor was really damaged; broken; etc. Later they told us they were in the process of replacing the floor on some rooms, but not all them were ready just yet. Also, several pieces of furniture were missing (a night stand; hangers in the closet; etc). I asked for a room switch but the only available option was a room of a higher category. They refused to make the change for free but I agreed to pay the extra cost as the first room was in really bad shape. 2. The second room they gave me (a Junior Suite) faced the street and was on the 5th floor. As it happens, an open air night club is just across the street from the hotel. Incredibly loud music and shouting was until 5am. By loud I mean a really unbearable level of noise. When I complained the day after, the manager replied that in fact it was a really bad situation but nothing could be done about it. 3. As we didn't get a good night sleep, we had to rush out in the morning for breakfast with friends. We returned at the hotel around noon to get ready for the wedding we were originally in Guadalajara for. At that moment, we found out there was no running water in the hotel! When I called and told the manager, her response was that "there was no water because they were improving the hotel" and we had to wait from 4 to 6 hours. Obviously, at that time we packed our stuff and rushed to another hotel to try and get ready for the wedding. When I explained all this situation to the manager in turn, Martha Morales, she didn't even agreed to not charge for my stay. I didn't have to spare as I was already really late for the event so I agreed to pay (extra as they "upgraded" my room!). I travel often and I believe this is one of the worst experiences by far I've had at a hotel. I realize Guadalajara isn't particularly known for high end hospitality; but I did find it incredible.
