A Grand experience at the Grand Hotel

Reviewed 18 october, 2021

We have stayed at this hotel several times now and there is reason we keep going back. Even in the heart of the pandemic lockdown in Guayaquil, staff at this hotel were warm and helpful in every way possible. The restaurant is very good and looks onto the extraordinary outdoor grotto-like pool area. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and immaculately clean. The hotel location is fantastic.

Central hotel in Guayaquil.

Grand Hôtel is right in the center of Guayaquil. The cathedral facing Iguana Park is right next to the hotel, making it very convenient to explore the city. I chose the hotel because of the safety of the location and the security the hotel offers, especially as a woman traveling solo. The hotel and room was clean with decent wifi and a satisfying breakfast. The furniture in the rooms are a bit dated, but other than that, everything was perfect about the stay!

Great experience

The room was great. Service was great. English speaking was helpful and everyone tried very hard. It was a great two nights. The location was very safe and comfortable. Not too far of a walk to El Mercado Del Rio. Evelyn at the front desk was great and so was the bar tending.

Abosulutly the Grand Hotel of Guayaquil.

It will be one of the reasons to visit Guayaquil. You'll have to stay just to see the grounds with a unique impeccably designed layout behind the Metropolitan Cathedral. The best service I have experienced in all my travels. Everything was perfect. The food, grounds, pool, recreation area with dry and steam saunas, weight room and gaming area. A hotel of this caliber in the states would be at least five times the cost of this hotel. I will be coming back.

Great Stay, but be careful when making reservation.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff, breakfast buffet, pool, and gym were exceptional! Paola, the front desk manager, was very friendly and approachable. One thing to keep in mind is that you are charged an additional $15.00 per night if another person stays overnight with you or if you have another guest with you when you check-in (even if you booked a room with two beds). The front desk explained to me that you must indicate the number of people that will be in the room during booking online. The price is slightly higher for two people sharing a room even though the room has two beds. I have never experienced this type of policy before. Another minor thing to note is that the beds only have one flat sheet and no additional covers on them. Might be problematic if you're a cold natured person, but it wasn't an issue for me. Nonetheless, my stay was pleasant and I really enjoyed the location of the hotel and the close proximity to the Malecon Dos Mil and many other attractions. The area was safe with many security guards throughout the vicinity. I definitely recommend this hotel. Just make sure you indicate the exact number of people that will be in the room when booking on their website to avoid any unexpected fees at check-in.
