Nice Views

Reviewed 17 september, 2022

Let me start by saying that we had a great view from toom 458. Also the hotel is in a very nice and quiet area- away from the other hotels, condos, main strip, etc. Beach set up was nice. Not crowded. 2 chairs and umbrella for $40 a day. $70 for 2 days. Pool area was nice. No hot tub. Some gulf front rooms are right above the pool. Which is ok if you want to be above the pool and the noise. I asked to be moved. Which took me to room 458. As I stated earlier the view was great. But the room itself left a lot to be desired. The head board was dirty. There was a hole in the wall in the bathroom. The walls were scuffed up. The baseboards were dirty. I spent most of my time at the beach so I dealt with it but I probably won't ever return. There was a lot of mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. Mainly regarding condition of the room. I took a gamble and I lost.

Almost 5 Stars

Reviewed 12 september, 2022

While I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, due to the housekeeping, I could not in good consciousness do it. We had an amazing time here. The beach has some of the whitest sands I have ever seen, and I have been to many beaches. The employees responsible for setting up the umbrellas and chairs on the beach were amazing! I am ashamed that we did not get the name of the one who set ours up. They were the hardest working, most accommodating people we have dealt with on my many vacations! Everything in the hotel is clean and well kept. The restaurants in the hotel are among the best. There are amazing views from the rooms! The 3 stars were because nobody told us at check-in that we had to request housekeeping due to continued Covid rules??? Only after two days of requests were we told by one of the housekeepers that we had to request the service. Therefore, though when we left the 2nd morning and told a member of housekeeping we would be out,,,they did not clean. When we returned, a different housekeeping person was cleaning the room across from us, and we asked if she could clean our room. She said okay, as we had our grandkids with us on the hotel balcony waiting for her to finish. After another 45 minutes with overly tired grandbabies we went to check, and she was in another room! This is when we were told about the request to clean. We gave up, and spent our entire 4 night stay, including my daughter with her kids in a different room with no housekeeping. Somebody needs to manage the housekeeping procedures and protocol. The rest of our time and the hotel are 5 stars!

Dynamite beach resort!

Reviewed 7 september, 2022

We have stayed here many times - one of the premier beach hotels in the US Southeast! Breakfast is still very good - if not quite as spectacular as it once was when they re-opened back in 2018 or 2019. Make sure you get Ocean View - much more appealing than the inward looking rooms. Easy 5 stars!

Not good for families and older people

Reviewed 3 september, 2022

I'm gonna be perfectly honest we were here Labor Day weekend. First none of the T.V 's in the rooms worked. There are no microwaves in any of the rooms,. I've got so many negative things to say about this place.. . The parking is really awful you're gonna be walking a really long distance after you park . There is not a family friendly mild priced restaurant on the property. The website is lying when tthey say there is a restaurant like that on property. The only place to eat if you have younger kids is this little place that is only open during the day. Also if your there and you see a sign that says happy hour after 4 with low priced appetizers that's also very misleading it's actually not even on the property. That happy hour time is for the restaurant that's another mile or 2 down the road. Also the elevator situation is not good you have to walk a long way down the hall to get to your room and if your older or have small children this could be a problem. This place is not as great as they make it out to be on the website

5-Star Vacay

Reviewed 3 september, 2022

My mom and I spent 6 nights here for our annual mother daughter vacation and we rate it a 5-star experience overall. This is a very clean, nice and upscale property with great amenities. Based on my research this is definitely one of the nicer selections you could make in the gulf shores/Orange Beach area. We stayed Saturday to Friday just before Labor Day and found it uncrowded and we never waited much for anything. I also felt the price point was very fair for all the they offer. Be sure to take time to explore the trails and nature center on property. This resort is making some very cool strides in sustainability and I enjoyed reading about it on the signs they have throughout the property. Some people have complained about the low outdoor lighting but I thought it was relaxing. Restaurants: all good with a range of prices. Couple times we actually got kids meals when we wanted something simple and portions were huge. Note that there is no automatic gratuity for food/bev purchases; tipping is at your discretion. Pool: great big infinity pool! It’s only 4 feet all over and so relaxing with plenty room to spread out. The entire area was very clean. I loved that the resort played their own music (range of crowd pleasing popular hits at medium volume) because it eliminated a problem I have had at beach resorts for a few years now — which is people bringing their own speakers to the pool and forcing other guests to listen to it. Some nights they had a live musician and that was so nice too! Room placement: second other comments to splurge on beach front and avoid the floors with the extra partition (even number floors) around the balcony. Staff: everyone was so lovely for the most part, especially housekeeping and parking attendants/bellman. I found the front desk staff fairly cold. They got the job done but just weren’t overly friendly and were a bit rude to my mom when she had some questions about the bike check out. (Condescendingly said “the app should be self-explanatory”). One of the friendly guys working out front helped us figure it out tho. Maybe they’re worried about people stealing the bikes but it would be nice if you could just check them out without having to download the app and figure all that out which does take a bit even if you’re tech savvy. Beach: just beautiful and not crowded at all! Some seaweed issues while we were there but that can’t be helped. Chair and umbrella rental is run by a third-party service and their attendant was such a sweetheart. I love how close to the surf they put the chairs and umbrellas so you can hear the waves. These rentals are separate from the hotel so you will need to bring a credit card out with you the first day. Parking: As far as the walking everyone is complaining about, I can see how it would be annoying if you had small children or mobility issues, otherwise you should be fine as long as you get help with your luggage upon arrival/departure. And our room was nearly as far away as you can get from the parking. The father you are away from the parking, the farther away you are from the pool and the quieter your room/balcony. Housekeeping: Housekeeping is by request only but they were quick to accommodate each time we asked. I will say that it seems like they always missed something — I.e. One day they missed grabbing the bathroom trash, one day didn’t replace the mugs or lotion and our last night we realize we were completely out of tissues and toilet paper with no spares to be found. I’m sure they’re doing a lot to keep up with servicing the rooms but a little annoying for guests especially in a spread out hotel where it is not quick to run down to the desk and ask for something. Tips for Improvement: The towel stand is only open until 5 PM. They should list on the sign what to do with towels that you’ve checked out after that time as of course many people are out enjoying pool/beach until dark. One day, the towel attendant awkwardly insisted I checked out more than the one towel I turned in? I hadn’t and honestly this is not the sort of thing I’m trying to have an argument about during a vacation. Perhaps they should consider a more automated system than her just jotting down how many you get in case of human error. They badly need more pool umbrellas. I also noticed some “towel game” incidents in which there were never umbrellas available even when the pool area was dead because people reserve them with personal items and then spend the majority of the day away from the pool. Many resorts have a rule against this and I think that’s a good policy so that everyone can enjoy some shade. Some of the restaurant hours were inaccurately listed on the website from the QR code on the back of the room key and that was frustrating. Would be nice if those were kept up to date. Also one morning the restaurant wouldn’t make anything to-go from the breakfast menu for my mom a little before 11, which is when breakfast ends. I’m unsure if that’s because they don’t make the breakfast menu items as takeout or because they stop serving anything but the buffet close to that time? Either way, it might be nice to note whatever that rule is somewhere, whether it’s “no breakfast takeout” or “last call for breakfast at 10:30” or whatever. Overall I highly recommend this resort and think you are sure to enjoy your stay here!! We truly did.
