We stayed here as a couple as we were attending a party in the function room upstairs. I didn't check the reviews first which is unusual but thought it would be ideal as the party was here in this hotel. Well a hotel is it not, just a very basic pub with motel type rooms out the back.. To get to our room you have to go ou side behind the pub and into a door with a security code on it where some of the rooms are. Our room was tiny but I have to say it was clean as was the bedding and mattress, the shower room is tiny, no where to put any toiletries etc but once again the shower, toilet and sink looked new and was clean. There was paint peeling off around the windows I think this was a damp issue Surprisingly there was soap, shampoo and conditioner supplied though no hairdryer. We went to our room at about half past midnight but the music from the function room was blasting until around 1am then there was a lot of noise from guests outside till the early hours. For £60 including breakfast I didn't expect luxury but you get what you pay for, breakfast was a fry up which was ok the lady at breakfast was very nice but once again all very basic. If you want somewhere to stay for a reasonable price and don't mind no frills then that's what this is.
Dirty & rude bar staff
Attended a music night upstaires in the function room at the Dorrington. The entrance room as you enter into the building was full of broken bits of old furniture piled up in a heap behind a counter. Upstairs the venue is big & spacious with a dj booth, dance floor and bar area. The bar staff were rude, miserable & unhelpful. Overall the function room was grubby, scruffy & definitely needs a good deep clean and an upgrade. If it wasn't for the great band that were playing we would have left straight away. The only positive thing I can say about the Dorrington is the magnificent staircase from the entrance to the function room. Would we return or recommend this venue ~ probably not unless it was cleaned and the bar staff were all replaced or retrained.
VERY NOISY AT GONE 1.15AM
we had traveled from southampton for a concert and saw this hotel and thought £65 is not bad price but we got back at 11.30 and were quiet but then others came and were noisy by our window. Room very basic and also Hot with a Fan that does nothing to help. No Space in Car Park to Park All in all I would not have paid half the money to stay here as not getting a good service Wont reccomend and will also feed back to were we booked from regarding standard

I stayed at the Dorrington for 1 night as we were attending a family celebration in Sudbury. The room was very spacious and comfortable, we asked for a travel cot that was provided (had fun putting it up). The room was very clean, bed was comfortable, had fun working the kettle out as it had a filter, the shower was clean, hot and fast flowing, my 6 month little one loved the shower. The only issue with the room (number 12) was it was hot, so we had the window open and just below was a fried chicken takeaway that was noisy at times, especially late at night. The breakfast the next day was very nice, I had the vegetarian option and it was plenty. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The car park is very small out the back, but right next to the hotel is a public carpark that is free after 7pm. Would recommend, but its not a expensive, luxury hotel, its fine and great vale for money for a few nights.
terrible
the staff on reception are so rude, Charlotte and Kirsty in particular they have real attitude problems my kids were terrified. Hotel is average facilities are limited and my friend who also booked at the same time was charged triple for the same room, no management staff need a overhaul. Thanks
