Unforgettable stay at Parkhotel

I don't even know what to start my report with. Two colleagues and myself arrived at the hotel at 2-3 am in the morning. The person at the reception didn't speak English, but it's not such a big problem to check in. The fun started when we came to the rooms and realised that two of three are not ready! I remind you, it's 2 am. the person doesn't speak English. It took then about 30 min to arrange new rooms for us with the condition to change them the next day. At the end, they kept these rooms for us and we didn't need to move. Every day brought us a new surprise. The next day we realised that instead of towels, they provide with hedgehogs (but change them daily with clean ones). There are no bedsheets (only mattress covers), and our request for one surprised the reception lady. My colleague have found an insect nest (!!!!!) in the corner under the bed. Dusty wardrobe not even to be mentioned. Three of us have backpain of sleeping on the mattresses, which is not a surprise: you can count mattress springs with your back. The internet worked normally on the first floor only, My colleagues on the second floor were hunting for it in the corridor. However, it must be mentioned that breakfasts are fantastic in this hotel: rich variety of bread, snacks, drinks, ham, cheese - whatever you want. I also tried sauna, which costs 6 euros. I was completely alone, so in my opinion it worth this price. There is also an electrical massage table (just vibrates at your back, neck and legs area), nothing special, but you really need it after one night. The hotel is situated in the city centre, in the park area. Lovely to walk around. To sum up: will I recommend this place -> definitely NO Would I come back? -> NO

I stayed here for a business trip. The hotel is very centrally located, yet very quiet in the middle of a park. There is plenty of parking around the hotel. The hotel looks a bit old fashioned and the rooms are very simple, they would need a refurbishment soon. However they are clean. The breakfast buffet is very sumptuous, all fresh, and beautiful! The service was very friendly. In the evening we just walked 20 minutes to the Herne town center, with some nice restaurants and a small shopping mall.

This is typical German city hotel. The hotel rooms clean but a little outdated and towels were thin and limited. But complimentary rich fruit basket was nice and welcoming and they provide complimentary bottle of mineral water in the room as well. The hotel is surrounded by a park and about 20 mins walk from the town & station, staff were friendly & speaks good English There was no wi-fi and you have to get prepaid Telecom wi-fi card from the reception.

Went there several times and never got disappointed. The location is in the park near to the City Center, enough free parking spaces are available. Rooms are nice considering the price and the continental breakfast is huge. The restaurant in the next building is very nice and in the summer there is biergarten between the buildings. If you want a nice stay in Herne this is your place.

The hotel & room were very clean but a little dated The towels were thin & not fluffy The room had no drink making facilities a bottle opener was supplied but no water The hotel is surrounded by a park & athletic track hence was peaceful Approx 20 mins walk from the town & station The single bed was probably the narrowest I had seen for many years The breakfast was designed for the German market rather than the international traveller but cannot be faulted for quality The staff were friendly & spoke good English The restaurant & beer garden were both popular for residents & non residents the menu was in German which made ordering a challenge since the staff were friendly but did not have the same command of English as the hotel staff Was it good value .... yes Would I stay again ... yes
