I stayed this hotel for business trip. As other people say, it is difficult to find restaurant around the hotel. It may be better to buy Bento at the super market near the hotel. But this hotel is about 1 minutes walk from the Notogawa station. And Notogawa station is about 40 minutes ride from Kyoto. I reccomend to stay this hotel if you can't find reasonable hotel at Kyoto. This hotel's breakfast is very nice, and I enjoyed big bath.
Home away from home
Spent 9 days here and as always room was clean and (almost) everything u need can be found here. Breakfast spread is really good they even try to rotate the menu so u don't get tired of it. It's right beside the train station and there is a supemarket and small izakaya around
valuable price you can try
On the one hand, It's easy to find because it is next to Notogawa station. The price is cheap, so we can save money to be spent on other stuff, such as luxurious meals, entrance fees or souvenirs. Inside the hotel, the room is really clean and beds are comfortable with basic things for shower are provided. Breakfast is also acceptable. We can have Western style or Japanese dishes to fulfill our empty stomachs before leaving. Although staff cannot speak English well, but we can understand each other and they are ready to help. On the other hand, the hotel is far from well-known tourism attraction in Kansai region, such as Kyoto, Osaka or Nara. However, it is good location to travel around Shiga and Lake Biwa, especially Otsu and Hikone Castle. Because of the distance, we have to take some time on train to get into the big city. Nevertheless, it was covered by Kansai Area Pass ticket. Therefore, we could cut down the duration by using "Special Rapid Service" train.
I spent five nights here in a single room. As expected the room was small but it was immaculate. My Japanese is fair/poor and the staff was welcoming and professional. The location (across from the train station) made my travel from Tokyo to the Biwako area easy. My stay included buffet breakfast which had traditional Japanese as well as Western choices. A large supermarket is next door.
