Really great stay, arrived and the reception told us everything we need to know on the island including best places to eat and for sunset and tours. Room was spacious and clean, the pool was beautiful as was the rooftop area. Breakfast was tasty too. Has a partnered beach front property which is a 30 second walk away and has really tasty food too.

amazing experience in this place! We are a young couple from uk 🇬🇧 the staff are friendly and helpful, everything is spotless and clean. A place to relax, only a walk away from the beach where you can see the sunset. They also have carolinda beach club which has amazing food and drinks! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I just returned from a six-night stay at Ensueño Holbox. Although I felt good about booking there based on what I saw online, I have to say my expectations were well exceeded. I was traveling alone as a get-away from an intense job and hectic life, and was able to recharge my batteries here. First, some things you should know, which I think probably apply anywhere on the island but are important to understand. 1 - There's not always hot water, and water pressure is minimal (down to a trickle at times). It's like living in a small house with a big family, and once the water heater is empty, everyone else is getting a tepid or cold shower. Honestly, I've had the same issue in Cabo. It's not unique to this hotel or even Holbox Island. But whatever, get the sand off, wash the essentials, and go have a cocktail. 2 - There are some critters. Ensueño does a great job of managing insects; there were *very* few around the property. But there were some tiny ants that blazed a trail to the counter of the kitchenette each day. I also kept the windows open for my entire stay, so it's to be expected. If that thoroughly grosses you out, an all-inclusive in Cancun may be more your speed. Now, the good stuff! Room: I stayed in the "suite with partial sea view and terrace" and it was exactly as advertised, and exactly what I wanted. Comfortable bed, small kitchenette with coffee maker (and coffee provided), mini-fridge stocked with two bottles of water (which can be refilled via a dispenser in the reception area), blow dryer in the bathroom, bathroom and beach towels, lovely terrace/balcony with a view of the grounds and partial ocean view as advertised. Ceiling fans in bedroom and bathroom. Air conditioner with remote control. One thing I loved about the room is that it is uniquely situated so that it has windows on all four sides (if you include the bathroom), so you get a 360 view and also a very nice cross breeze with all windows / balcony door open. I looked forward to returning to my room at night and sitting on the terrace for a bit. There also was a small in-room safe. When I arrived it did not have batteries, but they quickly returned with batteries and I was able to use the safe for the remainder of my trip... not that I really needed it there, but was good peace of mind. Regarding the room location: it is up a couple flights of fairly steep stairs. I had no issue, but it could be prohibitive for anyone with mobility or cardiac issues. Also, because the room is at the front of the hotel, where the road is, golf carts can be heard well into the night as people come and go from downtown. I'm guessing that's true for most of the island these days though. With the balcony door and all the windows closed, it was pretty quiet, so there is at least an option to tune out the sounds. Amenities: The grounds are kept very clean, including the pools (plural!). The main pool area is nice, with both areas of shade and areas where you can be in the sun if desired. There also is a rooftop with a small bar and a second pool. This was a surprise to me, somehow I missed it online (or it's new), but it was a great spot to relax with a margarita and watch the sunset. There also is a purified water dispenser in the reception area where you can refill water bottles. This was nice, as it kept me from buying tons of bottled water. Breakfast is included, 8:30am-10:00am, and consists of fresh fruit, with yogurt and granola if you wish, pancakes, toast, juice, and coffee. Scrambled eggs (with ham, chorizo, or Mexican-style) can be purchased for 70 pesos, payable on checkout. Eggs are served with cheese quesadillas and refried beans. I found it to be a very filling breakfast. The eggs as prepared were very salty for my taste, so after the first day I requested no salt, which was accommodated. Staying at the hotels also grants you a 15% discount and access to the beach chairs at the Carolinda Beach Club, which is a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. The drinks and food were very good there, and it's an excellent spot for an unobstructed view of the sunset. There is wifi on the property which worked well enough. It went out from time to time, but not usually for more than a few minutes. It may be tricky to actually work, if you need to be connected via a VPN, but for cursory use it was fine, and although it's advertised as being available in common areas, it worked in my room as well. Location: Ensueño is located about a 15 minute walk from downtown. Prior to early evening, you can get there along the beach, but once the tide comes in that route gets closed off. The road is an easy walk, straight shot so easy to navigate back and forth. It is pitch black at night, with no lights on a good portion of the road, so it's a good idea to bring a flashlight. I brought my Zephyr Trail 200 handheld, made by Nathan, and that worked perfectly while small enough to toss in my purse when not in use. A running headlamp would do the trick as well. Some people just used the flashlights on their phones, but seemed to be struggling with that as they weren't bright enough and didn't cover enough surface area. It rained a bit during my stay, so there were a lot of mud puddles. Not sure how common this is, but I wouldn't recommend bringing any shoes that could be ruined by mud. For me, Tevas and flat sandals worked fine. Holbox isn't fancy anyway, leave the cute shoes at home. Overall I had a very positive experience here. The staff were all friendly and accommodating, even though my Spanish is not great. I was given a thorough overview of the hotel and the island on arrival, and there was always someone at the desk to help if I had questions. I opted not to do any tours, as I was there for 100% down time, but they can help arrange any tours as well. A last note, I want to give a plug here for the Refugio Animal Holbox, which is just down the road from the hotel, about halfway to downtown. I saw some people walking dogs on the beach one day and asked them where they'd come from, and learned about the animal shelter. You can go there and volunteer to walk the dogs during their business hours. I did so and really enjoyed my time with the dogs. If you are an animal lover, it's a great way to get some exercise and some doggo time in on vacation!

We had the BEST stay at Ensueno Holbox! Our room had a spectacular 360 degree view and was spacious and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay, and were incredibly friendly. The hotel has it's own beach club, Carolinda, which turned out to be our favorite spot on the island! The beach club is not attached to the hotel but it's about a three minute walk away, so it's very convenient. (You also get 15% off your bill if you're staying at the hotel, which was an added plus!) It's about a 15 minute walk from the main area of the island, which is great because it means the beach is less crowded. The beach club has an array of seats, beds and lounge chairs, and they serve very good food and FANTASTIC drinks. Just like at the hotel, the staff are what truly made the beach club special - they were friendly, accommodating, and all around wonderful. We hope to return to Ensueno Holbox soon!

Fantastic stay at Ensueno Holbox

We stayed 3 says at the Ensueno Holbox hotel. We really loved this hotel. The rooms are very clean and the staff ( all of them!) Is very friendly and helpfull. The swimming pool is very nice and Founded by palm trees. The breakfast is light (yoghurt, fruit, toast, pancakes,..) and you can order eggs at a very reasonable price. Down atbthe beach, which is only 100 metres away there is the very nice beachclub Carolinda, of the samen owners at the hotel with a very nice atmosphere and also very friendly staff. You can eat some lovely dishes here and have a drink, all at reasanoble prices.
