Reminiscent of the Old Hotels from Years Gone By

Reviewed 25 june, 2022

5 stars for the hotel The "Pink Palace" is a jewel on Waikiki. It reminded me of the Breakers in Palm Beach, FL and the Hershey Hotel. We stayed in the old section where the rooms are larger. While we didn't have a balcony, the room was nicely appointed. We stayed in a suite that had a lovely foyer. Having the extra half bath came in handy with teenagers. The hand carved artistry of the entry doors to each hotel room was great touch. We took a chance and got a one bedroom suite with living room and got the king size bed and two rollouts for our teen age boys. It worked our great as the roll outs were the size of a twin and had thick almost standard size twin mattresses. The boys were very happy it wasn't a pull out couch. These were the old style roll outs so they were quality. The boys were happy to have their own room. The gym was serviceable - apparently guests can not not use the gym at the Sheraton any longer. The boys liked being able to go to the Sheraton Pool for something different. The shops were also nice. The hotel staff was great and very attentive. 4 stars for the Restaurants 5 stars for Breakfast 3 stars for the Mai Tai Bar - My Poke did not taste great. The ahi was fresh but whatever seasoning they use - it needs to go. Plus they need to make a good Mai Tai. I get staffing is short but they need to practice the Mai Tai making for taste and consistency. 3 stars for the Azure limited menu - needs more variety

Wish I could stay here forever

The staff at this hotel from front desk to housekeeping to servers in the restaurant were the best we have ever experienced. In light of all the staffing challenges in the service industry, the Royal Hawaiian was exceptional. In addition to great service, the food at the on-site restaurants was amazing-breakfast, lunch, bar snacks, dinner. It was all exceptional.

Not treated Royally

Reviewed 13 june, 2022

Staying 8 days for a long deserved retirement and birthday celebration. Day 4 someone at the hotel’s front desk ran my credit card prematurely way before check out on 6-15-22. Because there were multiple people in the room the credit card was charged multiple times. Received a fraud notice on my cell phone that day. Royal Hawaiian maxed out the credit card and it was shut down. Front desk does not know who or how this happened. Ruined the day - wife's birthday. Stay elsewhere.

Very nice, historic hotel. Close to a lot of shopping and dining places. Make sure to have one night for Azure and a few moments at the Mai tai bar. Activities to do, and excellent customer service! Check in experience was amazing, Micheal C. Was amazing and so helpful. I feel like he was always there during my stay to help. Whenever we had questions we would stop by the front desk and he was able to give recommendations, guidance, and also some help when we needed it! Michael really made our stay extra special. For a staycation, we felt like we were away and experiencing top tier customer service. Mahalo!

Best Hotel!

We stayed here in February and it was the best experience ever! They even upgraded us to a lanai! Best staff and the grounds were breathtaking. Enjoyed both restaurants and coffee on the beach each morning. Can’t wait to come back!
