Nice hotel, good stay

Nice hotel for a layover when flying out of or into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport early or late on the day. Also nice for a short get away to visit nearby Amsterdam, Zandvoort or Keukenhof. Nice friendly staff good rooms and plenty of facilities. They also have bicycles so you can explore the lovely Dutch countryside or easiky go to Hoofddorp center for zo shopping.
Take advantage of travelers during COVID

We had to leave early due to COVID regulation in Amsterdam, and they charged us for the full stay. Hotel is nice, and easy walk to train station, but they follow policy over guest service. Amsterdam is a great town, the rooms are clean and comfortable

Located just a short few minute train drive and one station from schipol, hotel is just by the station in a moderan area. High rise building, i got a great room on the 13 floor with a great view, nice rainshower and nespresso, instead of the mini bar you have free coupon for a drink and snack which you can take for the foodwall. Simple but nice bar close by the lobby. Breakfast is nice, wide choice and lots of space. Good price quality ratio.
Understaffed - poor service

The building is smart - but some corners cut (carpets from IBIS). Covid rules not clear so access to bar is blocked - and you are meant to sign / check in - but no signs to tell you. Signed and checked in - sat for 15 mins and no service - gave up and went to Hampton. 2 staff to work the bar, tables and restaurant .

This hotel was a little more complicated to find than I had expected because you have to catch a train (5 minutes) from Schiphol airport and then walk a bit. During the day this would not have been a problem for me but it was at night and dark so I felt anxious and lost. The lift at Hoofddorp station was out of order so it was all a bit stressful for a tired traveller with heavy luggage. The room itself was clean and comfortable, a bit basic but I was only there one night. The food was not good at all. As it was late in the evening, there was no choice and the pizza I ordered was tasteless and expensive. Being very tired in the morning, I arrived towards the end of the breakfast time and there was virtually nothing left. No choice of bread, no-one understood what wholemeal bread is in English, French or German. For future reference, in Dutch, it is "volkorenbrood" The serving staff were only interested in clearing away. I'm sorry to say it was the worst breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. I wished I had stayed in the IBIS nearer the airport. Thankfully I was "rescued" by a lovely lady called I believe Mariana who was most attentive and tried to find me some suitable things to eat. But the tea and coffee were tasteless. The reason I am giving the hotel four stars is because of the fantastic kindness given to me by the staff at reception who helped me with the wretched Passenger Locator Form which the British government requires travellers to submit and amend before arriving in the UK. KLM were not interested in helping and there was no way I could obtain my seat number before setting off the day before. The staff at the Novotel went the extra mile to help me print this out and I could not thank them enough.
