Overall Very Positive -- but Expensive for a Motel

We just got back (8/27-8/28) from such a great weekend in Hyannis and thankfully this property was much better than reviews suggest! I’ll try to give you the plus’s and minus’s. When we arrived on Friday we called ahead at about 2 PM and we were pleasantly surprised the room was already to go. Check-in was a few doors down at their sister property which was a little inconvenient. When arrived there was a short line but the check in process was pretty easy so overall it wasn’t really a big deal. I agree with others – the property is old – probably built in the 60’s. Very well maintained and quaint though. I normally I stay at more upscale hotel chains, so staying in a roadside motel was a real adventure and we had a really great time. When we first entered the room it was musty and stale (it was a very hot day) the AC was off so that’s understandable. Thankfully the AC worked very well and the room got cool quickly. We did our normal inspection for bugs etc. and found none. In fact we found the room, the linens, and the bathroom to be exceptionally clean which is most important to me. A/C worked great and fridge was ice cold. Another real plus is the prime location -- close walking distance from Hyannis shopping, several pretty good restaurants, and the ferry – so it was ideal. We must’ve stayed at a peak time because every hotel/motel in town was really expensive and this place was no exception. Between taxes surcharges and parking the total was over $600 for two nights which is pretty steep for what you get. Views from our balcony were good. Views from the room were not (In order to see outside you had to open up the blinds on the door exposing the room to people walking on the balcony. The other window looked out onto another motel). Parking was abundant so we didn’t have any issues that other reviewers wrote about. The building is made of wood so you can sometimes hear others walking around in adjacent rooms. We could actually hear kids stomping around downstairs so we were pretty glad that we were on the second floor. Other than that it was pretty quiet. In summary the room was spotless, property was well maintained, bed was comfortable, the linens were clean, and location was perfect -- sitting on the balcony in the evening and watching the ships and the people walking about with a glass of wine was great, so overall I would recommend this place. Just be prepared for what you’re getting.

Totally lied to

First of all you have to pay and additiinal $28 to park AT THE HOTEL PER NIGHT!!! Made a reservation for a Harborview room at Ocean Street Inn. Got there had to check in at another location and was told we were upgraded to a room twice the price . The new room had a view of 10 Porta potties instead of the Harbor. Front desk was unhelpful mainly due to poor management. Sad to treat patrons who just want to help bring business into the community.

Our stay at Hyannis on way to Nantuckef

Despite having paid in full for 6 roomsr check in took longer than usual. Rooms were clean however maid service is non existent. Our room was not done when we arrived from Nantucet. The gentleman at the front desk was unhelpful. Poor service across the board. When you pay so much for this ordinary place you expect better service but you are in for big surprise. I am not used to the roach motel type of service when I come for vacation. Do

Not even in the room, and I'm not impressed.

We got to the hotel 2 hours before check in, to register for our room. By the way, you need to go a block and a half down the road to their other property to check in. I realize we were early, but any hotel worth staying in will see if they can get you in. Not this one. Here, your told your room is not ready, and to come back at check-in, which is 4. We drove around for two hours, came back at four and again was told the room was not ready, and to wait. I'm now in a hot, long line, for the third time, waiting to see if I can get into my room This is a rookie hotel company pretending to be a real hotel.

False advertising and terrible room

We booked a Harbor view renovated room. Since they didn’t bother showing a picture of the harbor view, I did. It may look like a parking lot to you, but apparently it is a harbor. The renovated bathroom was completed in 1960…the floor has sticky residue all over and was not clean. There is no gourmet coffee, looks like it came from Walmart clearance section, Along with all the bedding and mattresses. Oh, and don’t plan on sleeping, the air conditioner rawrs with reckless abandon. I cannot believe they can justify charging $600+ for two nights. What a joke.
