A small hotel perfectly located

Only 8 or so rooms at this hotel (its not a "four seasons" global branded property). Rooms are tidy, clean and pretty quiet, we had the Autumn room that had a verandah with sea views. Its like you step back in time (in a nice way), taverna style dining (breakfast and lunches were great, tasty and well priced), nice calm beachfront thats open to day trippers who come across from the port to enjoy the beach and taverna. All aspects of our stay were fine, room, meals, transfers, service. Water shuttle transfer to and from port on arrival/departure as well as complimentary transfers throughout the day which made getting to the port for dinner easy (10mins journey). Its a 45min (generally sealed path) walk from the hotel into the port, we did the return walk early each morning, a great way to start the day. Kosta, Grigoris, Maria, and the whole team were pleasant and welcoming. If you're looking for a relaxing beach front getaway, this is it!

Great restaurant, beach and a Wedding Party!

We are regular visitors to Hydra and always look forward to our visits to the Four Seasons. The restaurant has great food and a really special atmosphere - but the highlight is being welcomed by the brilliant Stefano and Elias! We also appreciate Angie who runs the beach operation, we thought that the wonderful Dimos would be irreplaceable but Angie has turned out to be an absolute star! During our most recent visit we got married on the Island and had a post wedding lunch in the olive grove - absolutely magical and loved by all of our guests!!

We had a reserved lunch at the waterfront restaurant for our travel group. The views at the restaurant were amazing and the food was absolutely delicious! Grilled calamari, fresh fish, shrimp and Greek salad to name a few. The local cats appreciated our lunch as well :) Outstanding!

The best combination of beach and dining is at the Four Seasons Hotel at Plakes and the more you go, the more it grows on you. Take a dedicated boat from the Port, be welcomed by friendly staff who always remember you, lie on your bed under the shade of an umbrella, gaze over the shimmering water at the grey and purple mountains of the Peloponnese, and order your first drink. Reach for your rubber shoes, a must for the pebbles, slip into the liquid velvet water and wallow. Whether you read a book or nod off to sleep, the gentle lap of water on the pebbles will mesmerise you into Zen mode. When you're hungry take a few steps to the taverna and dine on seriously tasty traditional Greek food. They're open for lunch or dinner. I suggest staying on the beach and having an early dinner as the guaranteed sunset is sublime. I go every day! I have not stayed at the hotel, which I might add, is not part of the large Four Seasons Hotel chain.

It's been almost 5 years that I've not shared a comment, but this time I felt I should. I am a repeat visitor of this place - beach and restaurant only, not the hotel. For those that know Hydra, this is the most relaxing place, nice environment, very pleasant boat ride, good crowd of people, reasonable prices. Apart from these advantages however, there is another reason for customers visiting repeatedly. And this is Dimos (ΔΗΜΟΣ), the "left" beach employee-waiter. It is very rare in tourism service to see an extremely hard working person being so attentive, so polite, so pleasant and so friendly to his customers. No wonder nobody leaves the beach and the island without wishing him personally the best for the season and to see him again next year. Dimos is an asset for this establishment and good work should be appreciated and rewarded.
