Enjoyable but room for improvement!

Reviewed 20 february, 2023

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel in June 2022 at the start of the season. Although we had a lovely stay for the week there is definitely parts of the hotel that could be improved. Unfortunately, like every holiday I’ve found people are very territorial over sunbeds and when your on holiday you don’t want to be waking up early to be able to find some free. I found to get a decent spot you would need to be down by the pool at 8am at the latest. Although the sofas around the pool are a lovely touch there are no sun-beds at all round the pool they are only on the grass meaning you would have to leave your things to go and enjoy the pool facilities which I just don’t personally feel comfortable with. We found a lot of people would use the sofas round the pool as sun-beds instead to sunbathe and leave their things however this does mean where the sofas are fabric, there are suncream marks and sweat stains which is not pleasant when you want to sit around in the evening after dinner. Which to me was a great shame as it just felt dirty. Our room was clean everyday and very spacious however, when spending a lot of money on a holiday I do wish it was disclosed when booking that we would be staying in the non-refurbished part of the hotel which I did also find disappointing. Overall, the hotel is lovely and we had a great stay. The staff are so welcoming and helpful, I cannot moan about the food from the buffet and the Japanese restaurant is amazing! I especially loved the gyros from the snack bar. Just some things to be improved.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic service, and wonderful food

Beautiful hotel in the relatively quiet coastal village of Ialisos. We spent a week there for some late summer sun. The food was a particular highlight. Traveling with complex dietary needs is always a challenge. Executive chef Nikolasz and his team made it not challenging at all. They were not just accommodating but went out of their way to make our food choices not just safe but memorable in all of the best ways. All inclusive options are a buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a sit-down restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We ended up going to the sit-down restaurant most often for the quieter but welcoming atmosphere. Hotel location was great, not too far from Ixia town amenities and some interesting nature walks, and it's about an hour's walk (or short bus or taxi ride) to Rhodes center along the coast. There are many beaches along the north coast but all are shingle beaches. The sandy beaches are on the sheltered south coast. The hotel is right on one of these shingle beaches and nice for swimming if you have the right footwear to get out to the water. I got the impression that Ixia town had some nightlife but it is far enough away to sleep through it if, like me, that is your preference. In summary, a fantastic experience that I would be very happy to revisit.

Lovely holiday, food could be much better

Lovely relaxing holiday, private suite with pool was beautiful, staff were fantastic. We did have an issue regarding the food which was in our opinion handled badly, I have emailed the hotel asking for a response from the manager but heard nothing at all so disappointing for us

Really don’t understand how this hotel has any good reviews. I can only guess the occupants of the suites are treated completely different to the hotel guests (they do have a private restaurant), or the people posting good reviews have never stayed five star before. If your idea of a five star holiday is staying in a grubby dated room, waiting in long lines to get an exceptionally low quality drink at all times of the day and being ignored when needing service in the main restaurant then this is the place for you. Pool bar staff work really hard but as with the main bar it is under staffed. Managers swan around the place doing nothing especially the bar manager who props up the pool bar most of the day ignoring the guests. I think this is a hotel cost saving tactic that works as lots of people waited in the lines got bored of waiting then left the lines before being served. Make no mistake the local drinks are the cheapest poorest standard you can get if you like a beer don’t expect Mythos which is local to Greece expect something a little more low end it’s also delivered in a wine glass. If you like a cocktail expect premixed syrups that taste nothing like a cocktail. If you like spirits expect paint thinner. If you like a glass of water or a coffee expect to wait a while before getting it. Here’s a tip buy a drink at the bar and compare it to the same drink from all inclusive it’s not just the quality that suffers. Food in restaurant is standard all inclusive. Pool takeaway does sandwiches, no burgers or pizzas it does do gyros which have some good reviews. Fact is they are ok but although probably the best thing you’ll get to eat in this hotel you can get much better outside of the hotel for about 3 or 4 euro. Entertainment is near nonexistent which is handy as there is simply not enough seating in the bar/reception area. What’s not handy is ixia is a quiet run down resort so if you want to escape this hotel your limited to a couple of sports bars and a Chinese restaurant. This hotel is no more than 3 star at best I am guessing 4th and 5th stars are due to it having a gym and Spa. Gym REALLY, Spa read the other reviews. Hotel, expect to see your generic response to this review you blatantly haven’t acted on previous reviews. Potential guests read the poor reviews before booking this hotel.
