Never Again. Holiday Inn states you are notified upon arrival that the kitchen is not open, stated the General Manager. "We also have Welcome letters that we hand out during every check in that lets the guest know about multiple things. One of those is regarding our breakfast bags, what time we serve them and how many are allotted per room." Since when has a breakfast bag become a satisfactory breakfast offering for $22.00. That's unappetizingly RIDICULOUS! Next, I asked could we pass on the "Breakfast Bag"& use that portion of the cost for the room reservation as a credit toward our parking fee. The GM stated "Our parking fees for the Holiday Inn hotel are completely separate from our room rates, therefore that cannot be altered either." Lastly, the GM stated, " As you can see below, I am the General Manager, there is no one else to escalate this too." WoW, the GM(Ms. Means) is super professional and so very accommodating -NOT! We have family in Indianapolis & conduct business here very frequently however, we will not trade with Holiday Inn Indianapolis again. DIS satisfied customers
Late night room change
The 3 of us are currently staying at the hotel...last night after 11pm my husband literally rolled over in bed and it collapsed under him. We called down to the desk twice in order to get an answer, the representative suggested we pack our stuff and bring it down to the lobby before switching rooms instead of moving our belongings directly from one room to the other....why? (We didn’t have to, I talked her out of that idea...especially since we were moving across the hall). My 8 year old was so tired when we got into the new room only to find out that the trees outside our window had limbs long enough that they were rubbing against the window with the wind all night letting off a squeaking sound every few seconds. The Pool was great and so was the hot tub...the new room’s door also works a lot better than the last one. Location is great since we planned to go to the museum and zoo while here. No other issues so far.
Dirty Hotel and Rough Area
Stayed here with my family and it's really bad compared to a few years ago. The toilet was absolutely disgusting and the shower didn't drain. There's also a heavy dose of homeless and random people wondering through the area. The night manger was GREAT - helpful and cheerful. The morning manager - not so much. Seemed like she hated being there. I guess if you're going to stay here for proximity to Lucas Oil, so be it. Any other reason, I'd never ever stay here again. It's gross.
Decent Stay
In Indianapolis for the Work Truck Show, booked my rooms well in advance but not a lot of reasoable choices. I understand foom prices go up during events and it is all about supply and demand. I normally do not stay at Holiday Inn's but this one was decent. 10 minute walk to the Convention Center, Decent check-in and out. Breakfast not included so I did not eat there. Parking also an additional charge, like most bigger cities. Not a lot of value after all the mark-ups and charges but a decent plce to stay for 2 nights.
Unbelievably Horrible Customer Service By General Manager
Horrendous. On accident, I booked for the incorrect dates (weekend) in January, the low cost rate because I thought I had the correct dates. I booked at 9:45pm at night. I called back at 6:30am (9 hours later) once my wife pointed out my error. Desk staff said that only the manager would be able to decide what they can do. They said that the General Manager (Kristy Means) would be in at 9am and that Kristy or they would call me back later that morning. I got no call back that day. I called back the following morning and was told that Kristy Means was going into a meeting, but would call me back right after. No call back again. I called in the early evening and stated I needed to talk with her and would hold since I had not received a call back from anyone after two promises. I held and finally she came on the line. She said that since I booked the cheapest rate, that there was nothing that she could do. Holiday Inn staff told me twice when I was booking that it was a high demand weekend with only one room left (verified afterwards as online and by phone there were no additional rooms for 6). If she would have refunded the $$ (or partial), they would have re-booked the room. I asked who I could appeal to, she said she was the general manager and it was “her” hotel. She said she'd allow us to change weekends, but since no one called me for 36 hours after they said they would, my wife already booked for the correct dates at another hotel. I asked for corporate, she told me that I could call the reservation line. She said that she did not know the number to call for the reservation line. 5 seconds on google to find the number is 1-800-HOLIDAY... She doesn't know that number? Customer Relations kept telling me that it is only the general manager that can allow for any refund or credit. They appealed to Kristy Means for partial refund and/or partial credit, Kristy Means continued to say no. IHG and Holiday Inn stick by not working with a customer who made an accidental mistake and called them back 9 hours later (9:45pm to 6:30am). I was out $335… and they had an empty hotel room… once I didn’t show up, they probably booked someone else in the room and profit seems to be king for Holiday Inn and IHG… Sad… Customer last… General Manager Kristy Means first…
