Great hotel in great location

Opinión escrita el 24 de junio de 2022

We arrived early, but we were able to park in the secure underground parking and head off to the Capitol for a tour. While on our tour, we were called to let us know that our room was ready--I think it was Liz who called and we were very grateful to her. This is a great location close to the Capitol and the State Historical Museum. There are a lot of good restaurants around, too. We walked to the Iowa Taproom which was wonderful, and another good restaurant is Zombie Burger just across the street. I love the clean, modern hotel rooms with safe and small refrigerator. It was very quiet, and there was a nice bar/restaurant on the 6th floor. Thanks, too, to Dontrez, for all the good information. The only negative was that we thought that the breakfast was a bit pricey at $14 each as we only eat cereal, so we stopped at a grocery store, stocked up and ate in our room.

This property is a disgrace to the Marriott brand

I am only giving one star because zero isn’t an option. What a complete disappointment this hotel was at every turn. We came here for my daughter‘s wedding which was held at a venue right down the street. The location was perfect! That is the only positive I can say about this place. My daughter had reserved the bridal suite for the night before her wedding. She was told days in advance that she could check in early yet on the day of check-in she was very rudely advised that early check-in was not an option. After reaching out to the group coordinator that issue was resolved but clearly there is a lack of communication with the staff. We arrived with two trunks full of gowns, luggage, etc.… We requested a luggage cart and were advised that they must all be in use. The front desk clerk said I could go look around the hotel and see if I could find an empty one. What?! There was one luggage cart sitting right at the front desk with a few items on it. No others in sight. The front desk clerk was absolutely atrocious! She had a rude behavior and an arrogant demeanor. My daughters and I made multiple trips taking everything to the room without a cart. When we returned over an hour later to check my mom in we had the same receptionist who told my mother that the luggage carts were all in use. This time, I asked about the cart that was still sitting right by the check-in desk with a few items on it. She said that wasn’t an option. I saw a gentleman loading his car so I stalked him and asked if I could follow him to his room to take his cart. Without that my elderly mother would have been asked to make multiple trips with her luggage. Absolutely unacceptable! By this time, the elevators were not working properly. Every guest I came in contact with was grumbling about the rude stuff and the malfunctioning elevators. As I followed the gentleman to his room I saw a housekeeping cart in the hallway. Not far from the cart was a pile of garbage in the middle of the hallway. I literally can’t believe how poorly this place is managed! The parking is awful, the attached, underground, overpriced parking lot was full. My mom paid for that when she checked in and when she returned later that night there was a sign saying the lot was full. Again, that was after she had already paid for the parking. More terrible customer service when she needed help with that. My daughter was checking out of that suite the following day to move into the room that she would share with her husband after the reception. When we went to check her in, she was advised that there was no reservation on file. And the hotel is full. Sorry. Same snotty girl at the front desk— BUT Suddenly a room became available! Imagine that. I have stayed at dozens of Marriott properties for decade all across the country. I can always count on a clean room, comfy bed, terrific customer service and a friendly staff. This place doesn’t belong in the portfolio. They are an absolute disgrace to the brand. Find somewhere else to stay.

Cannot recommend, poor parking policy and unacceptable to tell guests to go find metered parking!

Opinión escrita el 21 de mayo de 2022

Can not recommend. When one mobile checks in and pays for parking- one expects parking. Arrived to paper sign on garage stating no spaces on street only. Unacceptable, how in this day and age can a hotel be ran that does not have enough parking for the number of rooms! This is not New York this is DesMoines not like public transportation is available at midnight. Crazy as it seems the front desk was quite comfortable in telling me to go park on street.

Great Place. Great unique hotel in the WestVillage, Des Moines. Fun place near to major performing venues .

This is a very lovely contemporary hotel. Lovely contemporary decor. Staff very helpful. We were there for a concert. Within walking distance to major venues. There are lots of restaurants, bars, pubs, and eateries. Also lots of fun, small shops with local owners, not chains.

Lovely hotel with cold service

Opinión escrita el 1 de marzo de 2022

This was a quick one-day stay with my mom in town for a concert. I travel for work quite often and stay in a lot of hotels. This one is gorgeous and sleek! However, we both noticed the staff on 4 different occasions being really distant. We chalked it up to it being a Sunday (not as exciting as a Fri/Sat!) specially front desk staff and Republic restaurant staff. I don’t think they said more than a handful of words to us and no smiles. Just cold and off putting. Very strange and not welcoming at all. The only exception was the lovely woman working the breakfast service in the lobby on Monday morning, she was great!!
