One of the closest hotels to the Field of Dreams movie location. When we first looked at staying here they were sold out but on the day we were stopping they had rooms. We had a one bedroom suite. It was large with a desk, sofa, fridge and microwave. Front Desk staff exceptional. Pool open. Plenty of outlets. Good lighting. Our room overlooked Swan Lake that has swans. Mediocre but fairly typical Comfort Inn breakfast. Farm across the street.
An unexpected gem!

This Comfort Inn & Suites in Independence, Iowa is a gem! The room was spotless (kudos to Nancy and Shweta for your hard work) and quiet, the bed was comfy and the staff ( especialy Lauren) was friendly, accommodating and very efficient. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I was lucky enough to get a room overlooking the pond and spent part of my evening watching a pair of swans swimming along. I highly recommend this hotel!

When I was looking to book a hotel to go to a Celebration of Life event in honor of my father, we needed to be close to Vinton, have room for three adults, and a way to eat inside since we were not yet confident that most people in Iowa would be fully vaccinated. This hotel had the sleeping arrangement great -- the pull out bed worked for one of us while two of us shared the other bed. The bed was a bit high and therefore would have been a challenge if my back had been acting up or if mobility is an issue for anyone. It was relatively close to Vinton -- about 33 miles away. They did offer breakfast with almost everything individually wrapped as they said when I phoned the hotel two days before our reservation. That helped us plan. However, during that phone call I also inquired about masking wearing and this was the biggest disappointment for our stay. We were told that guests didn't have to wear one but that all staff would be masked. That was not true at all. We never saw a single staff member with a mask. Considering I called just two days before and the CDC guidelines had not changed nor have surprising number of Iowans gotten their second vaccine shots, this was disappointing. The second disappointment was what was in the room. I thought it would have a kitchenette at least but it didn't. It had a small frig and a odd microwave without clear directions. No table that we could use to eat form when we got carryout. The satellite dish TV didn't come with clear directions either and that proved frustrating at times after the emotional days with my family. There was no fan in the bathroom and the way the door set against the tub/shower made it difficult to leave it fully open so that humidity didn't build up -- that is a problem in humid Iowa for the growth of unhealthy mold and mildew. However, the AC worked well and the place was clean, quite an accomplishment given the bathroom setup I mentioned above. The staff was friendly and helpful, just not masked as we were told they would be.

This is the best hotel for miles, I need a spot in or around Indepence every year and this is the best place to stop for my work. Facilities are available, breakfast was great, rooms are quiet. Route 20 is very close and the restaurants in town are less than a mile away. This was a January stop and it is Midwest Winter but roads and parking lot were well attended.

The young woman at check in was friendly. It was very quiet (not many guests). Our king room was very clean. The only issue was that the light on the thermostat never turned off. It was very bright and we had to hang something over it to dim it but still lit up the room. When we checked out the young man at the counter was curt and said he didn't think that was supposed to be on like that but didn't say he would look into it or anything. Breakfast was the typical chain hotel food, scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles etc.
