Worst hotel I have ever stayed in
Reviewed 12 September, 2021
Checked in and went to the room, air conditioner didn’t work and kept shutting off. The room was filthy and damaged in the kitchen and bathroom, no towels and all the trash from the prior visit was outside of our room (see photo).
Call the front desk to ask for towels never got them so went to the front desk and waited, they gave us 3 bath mats and a few wash clothes and said that was all they had… no bath towels. This hotel is way over priced for the rating and definitely not 3 stars, more like 1 star.
Do not stay here it’s gross !!!

Just that: Terrible

Overall. But we suppose it could have yet been worse. The Google reviews are interesting. Scary honestly, but you might be like some and give the ESA Irvine Spectrum the benefit of the gamble. FIRST off, and from the beginning, nobody ever smiled. Understandable uptightness if you've got no hired help but try to be happy and treat paying customers (or trusting prospectives) that they matter. The phone agent at the general center was FAR more personable than any staffer the whole doleful tenure of our 'stay.' Misinformation. Make sure you CAN see a room before signing off your money but staff at the location might waste your time and optimism. Room was dirty. Alot of those upsetting details were not discovered until after I checked in. Which I'm aghast that I did. I understand that these places may be down to just one surviving worker. But I grew in sad understanding that "they" only care about one's money and getting that, only. The agent that day both to the (nasty, truly) room and back to the office flew back and forth, while I struggled and failed to keep up. I'm challenged to put it modestly. Thought to give it a fair chance even at a rate of 950+ the first week. Ask, if its verification is important to you, for the reciept. There is deceptive tactic and enticement to consider this hotel which looks like luxury compared to actual experience. And for the pretty and higher class Irvine this enclave truly is, cringe to say, a slum. Be careful. There are some rough people and don't trust at random. We were almost hit by a reckless SUV driver the day after check in, and couln't know if he was lot racing coincidentally or was staying there. Room smelled rank and we had to use deodorizer spray which isn't a healthy option either. Dirty socks and debris. No visible corridor cameras and no foot patrol. Had the distinct impression if we needed "help" a net would be more faithful. As far as the supplies to "borrow" what you get is sticks compared to the on screen or literature advertising. Unless other chain locations are better but in actuality few ESAs are, sadly. Kept our drapes closed and watched our backs here and too curtailed our "stay." Its best to spend a bit more for a positive non degrading stay elsewhere. But this hotel seens to understand very well many people cannot, and, hate to say, seem to use it to their advantage. This is a longer review but I wanted to go beyond relaying the lack of true comfort, cleanliness or hospitality at this ESA. (Potentially) dangerous place. No gym, no business center, no true courtesies. Its funny how these businesses reply the mealy apologies to complaints but nothing ever gets resolved. One positive piece of relief was that the free WiFi sufficed and wasn't a let down. Working from home is double edged dice here as its not the Marriott and we had to fend off "strangers" approaching us or staring while out of the small suite. "Upgrades" look enticing but the cost discepancy isn't marginal and there's a change "fee." It wasn't that noisy but you never know who's going to move in next door. There's alwats room, non pun, to improve but this establishment doesn't seem to be inclusive of that. As housekeeping overhauled unreliable it parlays best to keep your own house and cleaning supplies. Service is disappointing.
Pictures on the website or misleading, this is motel and a dirty one

This is not a hotel and it is surely not worth the price charge, this should be no more than $50 dollars a night at the most. It is a motel and an old outdated one at that, and dirty. I don't mind outdated places but when the carpet has a big red stain on it and the tub is peeling and the curtains also have a red stain (is it blood, kool aid, wine??? who knows). The smell of the room and the look was just depressing. Along with me testing out the two old hot plates and the larger one didn't work. We are visiting the OC and we're staying here for a medical treatment for 3 weeks and thought this place being close to the the spectrum would be at least decent with no frills and at least clean, as the area has many nice shops and we know the area really well. I thought an extended stay here couldn't be bad as it is mainly a nice area and there are several hotels around that are all decent but this place was not it. It is not a 2.5 star or even a 2 star hotel, it is a 1 star slum motel and that is being generous. We sat in the room for 45 mins looking for another place to book a stay in. So in total we didn't spend one night not even half a day in the room and we returned the key quickly (didn't use the bathroom, didn't unpack, didn't remove shoes) but they refused to give a refund not even a partial one considering they have an empty room to sell again (seem like a very shady move) and the front desk was not helpful at all....we don't have money to throw down the drain on a room that we booked but couldn't and shouldn't stay in as we didn't even feel safe with our toddler. Plus no business center or any other amenities a regular place has to offer. I could live without a pool and all but a simple business center why isn't there one??? I still have to work even though we are here. First time at an extended stay and last time, it was small, overprice, outdated and dirty and they couldn't even honor a partial refund for what we booked at least on a room that we never slept one single day in . For the price of the room a night, there are several different choices in the area that you can stay in that are more up to date and clean, some cost the same, some less and some 2 or 3 dollars more...Please do yourself a favor and avoid this one at all cost unless you don't mind throwing money out window cause you will have to book somewhere else to sleep if you do chose this place, save yourself the time (we learned the hard way). I would rather sleep in a car than sleep in this motel. IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE. I feel like the 5 star reviews are strange, is there a secret place these people are staying at. I really am not picky but it says a lot about a place when you rather spend extra money you really don't have knowing than sleep at the dirty false advertise place that refuses to refund you money for their motel that you don't feel safe sleeping in. I don't recommend this place for families or business or anything. This motel needs to be shut down and upgraded to less of a slum status. Do a section or a room at a time but stop taking people's money by allowing them to book in something so nasty to where they have to cut the stay short to stay in a more cleaner and suitable place

From the moment I arrived Carla and her friendly and most helpful staff exemplified the definition of cozy, homey and welcoming.
I thought I was going to stay a couple of nights and then between the amenities, the staff along with the included utilities, staying longer was most enticing.
It was 3 cherish-able months of my life. Extended Stay America Irvine Spectrum was a sanctuary in my story for me and my pups.
Very blessed to have encountered Anne, Gina, Andrew, Jen and Ditta. Always enjoyed my daily conversations with Jamie as well as him repairing whatever needed to be fixed in an orderly fashion and Lucia was a grade A housekeeper.
A huge bonus was gaining a few friendships with fellow long-term guests that could only be described as Godsends to say the least.
If you need a night to getaway or a place to stay long-term, it is more ideal than you will ever know till you are here yourself.
Thank you ESA Irvine Spectrum ❤️🙏🏽🏡🐾
