A lovely place to stay

Such a friendly place, the staff were friendly helpful, and basically very lovely, I include Hercule and Toby with that, for those that haven't met them, you should go there just to meet them. The new owner has only taken over this year and has made lots of changes already and explained that many more are coming, the musk in the bar is amazing and links brilliantly with the local history of the island..Breakfast has kits of options a hot buffet of English fry up options, there are also cereals etc as well, breakfast was so good that I ate so much I didn't need anything till night time. I'm aware that will also do evening food there but that was currently unavailable whilst we visited, but this was explained to us in advance so there was no issues at all. There is a sea view from pretty much every room as far as I can tell. There is also a diving centre next door so if that's your thing then this is the place. (We weren't there for diving and we were welcomed nonetheless) Basically a lovely place.
Portland. The Aqua hotel

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We had a view of a roof which was disappointing being by the sea The stairs were steep and there was no lift. All the bedrooms were on the first or second floor. There was limited parking which we were unable to access, as staff and workmen were using the spaces. It was therefore £6 to park. The restaurant and bar were closed due to staff shortages so there was no lunch or evening meal. On the first night we had to drive into Weymouth to eat. There was no where comfortable to sit in the hotel and we only had a bed in our room. The decor was tired and old fashioned. There were no blinds in the breakfast room and the sun made it uncomfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The tourist information office was almost opposite. However the area made it difficult to go for a walk.
Clean, but in an industrial estate!

The hotel itself inside was clean and well presented, with the room/bathroom very clean. The breakfast was very good, as was the range available and the staff were friendly. Outside was not so good - no where to sit, except two broken benches and in reality you are in the middle of what feels like and looks like an industrial area. Unfortunately being an industrial area, works in local businesses starts early and is quite noisy, as is the traffic to and from, so if its a relax and quiet spot you are after, this is not the place. There were renovations taking place inside the property, which I am sure will add to the already nicely presented inside, but the outside and the first impressions does need some work....starting with the sign saying "qua" instead of Aqua!

Teenage grandson and I stopped overnight. The room was just what we needed, clean bedding and towels laid out, amazing WiFi connection and good breakfast. I forgot to pack my grandsons clothes, and the couple on reception gave me directions to a local store. The lovely man even offered to lend us a pair of jogging bottoms, but grandson is a big lad. Everyone was so friendly, easy parking, will definitely be back.

Came with my son who had been in hospital for most of the winter and is about to return to work Used as a base to travel out and walk. Room was very clean as was the hotel.Good breakfast in the morning however it did vary each day in cooking however listening in they were short staffed which appears to happening everywhere! Had to use the public car park however no big deal plenty of spaces and can pay by phone Coast walk into Weymouth is literally around the corner I’ve noticed reviews about location however it’s a base to travel from not lie outside on a lounger😀 Would recommend
