Beautiful but to loud!

Beautiful hotel, amazing pool. It's a shame that we had to endure 6 hrs of blasting pool music. Great food. Great views and drinks. Other guests say the golf is great! The people were friendly and well trained. I would recommend except for the DJ.


Great location, stunning grounds, in need of a reno.

Really nice place. Food was lacking, service was slow, but these days covid gets the blame for everything and that is supposed to make it ok. The pools and the general vibe is unforgettable. Visually stunning. Golf course was nice but grossly overpriced.


Nice big hotel, great pool, lot of amenities included

Nice great hotel. Had a garden view room and the room size was perfect for 4 of us with a nice outdoor sitting. Loved the big pool. Golf course is nice but did not play except went to the range twice. Nearby few restaurants. Staff was very friendly. Beach was OK and sunset was obstructed due to its location. Overall, quite satisfied although I felt the price was bit steep - not sure if this was due to the fact that we went towards end of the year.


Pricey but beautiful property

We stayed there as a stop on our way to Parque Manuel Antonio. As a Titanium elite member, we were upgraded to a suite. It is very expensive by local standards, so I would probably not stay there for an extended stay, but it was really worth the visit. Pros : - Longest and nicest pool I have seen - Beautiful beach with amazing sunsets - Many activities included for free in the hotel rate (per day: 2h tennis with equipment, 2 buckets of golf ball with equipment, kayak, stand up paddle, bike) and valet parking is free. Note that this only includes the equipment - classes are not free - Part of the "Los suenos" resort area (of which Marriott is the main property, but it also includes many condos), therefore in proximity to a few other restaurants and to the marina - While not a "historical" hotel, they tried to recreate the feel of a hacienda, giving it a lot of charm - Rooms are modern and comfortable Cons: - Expensive. As one might expect, restaurants within the property have similar price tags - A bit isolated as you are within the Los Suenos resort - Difficult to have real visibility on what activities exist. They are not written down on the website or or any piece of paper. You have to talk to the activities desk directly, which can only explain things to you orally (and the reception has no idea on what exists, so can only be discussed during activities desk opening hours from 8am-5pm) - Breakfast is good but would have expected better for these kind of prices


Underwhelmed and disappointed

To begin, knowing that we booked “late” for a holiday trip (we booked in July), I knew that we didn’t have many other options to accommodate our entire family other then this Marriott… therefore my expectations were already set low. We booked through our travel agent, who recommended that we pre-book one room a day early so we could have a place to check in due to our very early arrival time. We were shocked upon arrival when we were told that this room had been cancelled and considered a “no-show” by the front desk agent (Vernon - a trainee) even after we showed him the travel notes and confirmation number- he still was extremely unhelpful, and kept repeating to us that the room wasn’t booked- we had to call our travel agent who spent a great deal of time trying to explain to him. He assured us it would be remedied, he then disappeared for almost 30 minutes to go “talk to someone” leaving our entire family, tired and without information to just stand there by the check out area. In addition to this issue we had also booked 3 rooms, however one of our family members did not make the trip- so great, no issue- we had planned for that room to go to our other family member… according to Vernon- we couldn’t do that…and we had to wait another 30-45 minutes to straighten that issue out. Travel agent had to call again, talk with management etc to finally get us into our rooms. To summarize- within the first hour of being here, we already were given a run around, even tho we paid extra to not have to go thru such an ordeal in the first place. I get it, it’s the week of Christmas, it’s a little more hectic etc… but, you are a big hotel chain… get it together, and perhaps, maybe save the trainees for bringing towels to guests at the pool. Additionally, the rooms were rather underwhelming- there weren’t any snacks or beverages in the mini bar. Staff was ultimately confused or unavailable when you had questions or needed to schedule something, especially transportation- every time I would go down to the “transportation” desk to book a ride to town- I’d find no one there, and no one who was able to help in their place. Trying to book a reservation at the restaurant- you were met with a staff member advising you to use “open table” or advised to dial 0- why?? When I’m standing right there in front of the concierge desk?!! And I’m looking to speak with someone for more details?? The food at the restaurants was basic, and in some cases quite terrible. There were better options at the little coffee shop on site. Service was slow as well- the one night our whole family went to dine at Hacienda, we ordered drinks, appetizers and mains- everything arrived for all except for our son, who sat without his main course for at least 20 minutes or longer- no additional accommodations included… just the waiter saying “it’s coming” every 5 minutes or so- and to be clear the restaurant was not packed or busy at this point. Another night we tried to make a reservation for the Ocho restaurant for the following night- we were told that it will be closed that night… only to discover that was not the case. Finally, the beach is a disaster- no attempts to clean it and make it presentable… no chairs set up there if you wanted to sit near the water, garbage mixed in with rocks and sand. This is just unacceptable anyway you look at it. You have such lovely manicured grounds, then you take one step off of the grass onto the sand and it’s like a different world. Again, for a big hotel chain… you can do better!! The activities were a nice touch- the golf and tennis, however disappointing to find the driving range just closed on one of the days? There just seems to be a major communication problem with this hotel and the staff, some staff were really wonderful- (unfortunately I didn’t get their names, but there were two women who worked the front desk that seemed to really know what was going on). We are just disappointed as we were taking our family on this special trip, and while our time together was wonderful, because of so many of the missteps by the hotel, we spent much of the time frustrated and irritated. I definitely will not be recommending. Los Suenos— do better!!
