Sunshine Lodge

this hotel is closed permanently. i came here on december 14, 2016 and the front doors were locked and the inside was empty with all furniture removed!!! avoid this hotel at all costs. I had to scramble to find another hotel at the last moment and thankfully i did.

PROS The staff were super attentive to our needs and you only had to make a request once and they would follow through. Special mention goes to Ahmed for being so super! He had our broken shower faucet replaced within 30 minutes of our informing him plus he actually saved us money by taking us souvenir shopping to his friend's shop. Let me explain: after me and the wife checked out all the shops and at one shop even chose all our items and haggled for the price; Ahmed came to our rescue and told us the items we had chosen were available at a much cheaper price at his friend's shop. We managed to get much more then we wanted at the shop and his friend (Rashid if I remember correctly) was a delight explaining the difference between authentic souvenirs and cheap plastic replicas. The food at Sunshine Lodge was definitely one of the better ones I had at the island even though it was pricier. Masuni Roshi gets all my love for being just an amazing Maldivian breakfast that I sorely miss each day. CONS The location is not as close to the beach as we would have liked but its not that far considering Guraidhoo is a small island anyway. The excursions were expensive compared to Maafushi but for those that prefer private excursions this is a plus point.

True Maldivian island, not yet commercialized! People living here are very friendly. This small hotel is new and clean, well equipped, nothing more is needed. The staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful. Zizu, the manager personally took care of us, that our week stay here was wonderful. Fantastic cook!!! There are beautiful coral reef, you can swim with dolphins and see ... sharks (baby sharks)! The credit card payment is not possible in the island:-(

Dear All, a staff named Abudl Basith is a crook. He arranges booking for the lodge on Airbnb website. He promised us to provide a speedboat transfer for $200 (2 way) but a night before leaving the island, he told that the amount was for 1 way transfer and started misbehaving. Me and my wife were so helpless at an unknown place. After an argument of 4 hours, somehow he agreed to provide transfer to us thru a shared boat instead of private boat. I recently saw Abdul's message on my Facebook where he abused me and mentioned bad words about me being Indian. Moreover, he mentioned that if you can afford then why you visit Maldives. It was really embarrassing when people like Abdul spoil reputation of entire Maldives (for his information after that I stayed in Vivanta by Taj in Maldives, which shows my affordability). The lodge manager and his staff behaved properly with us but in Abdul's recent messages he mentioned that all of them were laughing at us and saying that these Indians are such loosers. Going on holiday is our precious time with friends and family. Dont spoil it for people like Abdul & company. Further, the decision is yours. Thanks

Guraidhoo Island is magic place if you enjoy culture, nature and friendly locals. Spent only 1 night but really loved the place, the staff there is so friendly. I had an awesome experience... Food and accommodation were surprisingly good. And it was easy to get anything you need because of few local shops on island. So it is not difficult to get a snack for example. So Sunshine Lodge has really something sunny and shining. I can definitely recommend this place for a stay. Just after arrival I was offered a plenty of places to go and many things to do... so you will never get bored there :)
