Great staff, clean rooms, friendly as usual

Reviewed 14 december, 2019

I usually put up in this small quaint hotel when visiting Kampala. It never disappoints. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. Due to the small size, it feels homely, despite the location. The garden restaurant is a nice place to relax or work, as it is quiet.

Sleepless nights

Reviewed 22 december, 2018

Dana hotel has nice rooms for the price you pay and the beds are very comfortable.Staff very friendly. But loud music from bars and clubs are on every night until 05, during the whole week. I was wasted every morning from lack of sleep. Besides this, if I managed to sleep, I woke up every time someone moved in the corridor since that made a strong light go on that came in through a window on top of the door.

Luxery Budget hotel

Reviewed 30 september, 2018

Place was budget in the sense:small rooms, lots of noise, clean but plenty of bugs(!)in the room. No AC and just few channels on TV. Luxery; great common room, fresh fruit and different meats for breakfast and friendly staff. Personal experience was that taxi drivers and even Boda's don't really know the area. So took me often long to get back to hotel.

Excellent budget hotel!

Reviewed 24 september, 2018

I spent six nights, August 31, 2018 to September 5, 2018 in this hotel. Dana Hotel is cosy budget hotel in the Kabalagala area of Kampala. The area is lively with several pubs and bars that open late. Check-in was swift, and a special mention must go to the lady at reception, Suzie. She was very professional, willing to help, and understood the craft of being in the hospitality industry. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, with tasteful furniture. I stayed in Room 202. Although the room was smaller than it appears in photos, it was very clean and and well-furnished. The wi-fi was tip-top; I did not find a place with such excellent wi-fi in Kampala. The shower and toilet worked very well as well. The restaurant served good breakfast, with quite some variety. There was the standard fare, bread, sausages, fried eggs, juice, cereal, coffee/tea, fruit: bananas, melons, and oranges, fried chicken, and a starch. Some days it was cooked plaintain bananas ('matooke'), other times it was rice and stew, or roast potatoes (commonly called 'Irish', as potatoes would refer to sweet potatoes). It was quite filling and very well done. The only downsides was the room lacked an in-room safe (I presume that other rooms too lacked the same) and disability access. My room faced away from the road and didn't have a view, but I don't stay in the room when visiting, so it's one thing that rarely ever matters to me. Late at night public transport from Kampala CBD was also scarce, but there are many motor bike taxis 'boda boda' and less commonly, Uber vehicles. In any case, the area is very lively with many pubs and joints where one can while the night away. But, for the cost (I paid US$228 for the entire six nights, through booking.com) it was worth every cent and I had a very pleasant stay. I will definitely stay here when visiting Kampala again!

The room is cozy and clean. The receptionist is very friendly. It's good for the budget too. They have a restaurant and they serve good food. Will definitely recommend this place for any type of traveler.
