Nice big city $$ hotel, but missing a few beats

Lovely and clean common areas; room very attractive. All good: noise, small refrigerator, AC, mattress, shower temp and pressure, towels. Parking at $23/day. Problems: - coffee machine features pods too large for the hopper, so the hopper overflows onto the counter - very attractive inlaid glass, which the coffee leaks under. - no room microwave, it's by the ice machine. - TV remote didn't work. - bathroom vent doesn't. - 'Free' WiFi execution quite poor (free for frequent fliers - Marriott Bonvoy members), $15/day for basic. Can't comment on the speed as didn't use. Had to argue with the Night Clerk how to accept my money, and when. Check-in and check-out much more professional.
Needs some attention to detail....

Stayed here recently for a conference; requested and received Suite Night Upgrade to the Presidental Suite! WOW! Now, the hotel and surrounding area had been without power for the previous 22 hr and just regained it a few hours before I arrived. Suite was def warm- and I thought it was because of the power outage. Tried to turn up the fan which didn't change a thing. (in fact, I turned all 3 thermostats I found in there down to 60 and high fan and it never changed over 4 days! So- this suite is on the 38th floor and spans the width of the building so different views of the city from LR/DR and BR. Large 4 poster bed-- but there is a 4 inch "ledge" around the mattress which is waist high to me (at 5-6") making it extremely difficult to get into! Then discovered the bedside table and lamp was too far away to reach from bed...3 of the 4 pillows were incredibly lumpy- glad I only needed one pillow! Flat sheet on the bottom which wasn't long enough to be tucked in on top or side so it looked like a war had occurred in the morning (oh- and 2 comforters on the bed but don't know if it ever got cooler than 75 or so!). HUGE bathroom- big double size tub (but the row of lights over it had 3/4 of bulbs out), big steam shower with fabulous water pressure (but mildew on ceiling and amongst the marble tile), large bottles of fancy products in the shower (that could not be opened for those of you worried about that-I'm not, but see lots of angst about this). Several spots in teh BR had mildew, and lightening wasn't great for makeup. LR has 2 love seat sized couches (found some sort of canisters in between the seat cushions- ew!) large desk, table for 8 on the DR side plus a full kitchen (but a dirty black plastic serving spoon was on the stovetop!). Lots of nice artwork throughout. Carpet was stained in many areas. Never saw a TV remote though TVs were in the bedroom, bathroom and LR (didn't look real hard in LR, wasn't watching TV anyway, but thought it was odd). Housekeeping did come in after 2nd night, remade the bed with the same (wrinkled) sheets. Conference rooms were pretty darn cold. Oh, and did tell front desk that the AC wasn't working, but nothing changed. (Heard someone else on 38th floor complaining too). Lounge hours are limited- never made it there. Did have a bite to eat in the restaurant bar one evening- def not worth the calories or $. Unfortunately not much around open after 5 or 6, esp on a Sunday evening. Lobby is gorgeous, lots of seating in many areas incl tables with outlets for working.
Great rooms but poor service and amenities

Rooms were great and spacious. However, this hotel has no customer service (even for mid-west expectations). If you call the front desk it adds $1.50 to you bill. There is no room service and the local "restaurant" Spectators is rarely open. But at least it is connected (via covered walkway) to the Westin who have somewhat proper dining. As well as connecting to the "Crown Center" which at best is an entry level "mall" with no real dining options. Their hot tub is also under repair and not functional. I would not return.
Would love to spend more time here!

Had a late check in and was sad I didn’t get to spend enough time here as I has an early morning flight but the property is very nice - a tall structure and lots of rooms. I used a suite award and got a large suite on a high floor which afforded great views of the city. The room itself was gigantic with several doors, many windows and one and a half baths. Breakfast was provided with my elite status however with my early morning departure I was unable to use it. I look forward to returning to this property in the future and enjoying more of what is has to offer!
The view made the stay.

Checked in on a Thursday evening for a weekend meeting at the hotel. Check in was easy and fast. Stayed in room 3216, great view of the city. King suite, which was perfect for one or two people. Room did have an interesting smell; musty, mildew or cigarette/vape smoke. Could not smell it all the time but would get strong whiffs of it especially at the door/entry area. Light switch had red “stuff” all over it. Bathroom had hairs remaining from the last occupants. Did not use the in room coffee machine, not sure how long water was sitting in the lines and didn’t want to rock getting sick. There is a for charge Starbucks in the lobby with drink and food choices. Room had mini fridge that would not keep anything more than chilled. Room was just ok, nothing special for such a high nightly fee along with parking charge. The view is what made the stay. There is a small area under the window where you can open it and get some fresh air and hear the city. Was perfect since I needed to be at that hotel for the conference but probably would stay a few blocks north to enjoy the city. Food around Crown Center is mediocre at best and used Uber to get into other areas to enjoy wonderful dinners.
