We welcome you to a unique Hawaii vacation experience. 59 historic plantation cottages grace the 43-acre oceanfront resort. Cottages are set in enclaves with plantings between them to provide privacy and a sense of tropical splendor. The large green lawns surrounding the cottage courts meander down to the ocean's edge. Originally built in the late 1800s to 1930s, the one- to five-bedroom cottages have been lovingly refreshed and reflect the classic Hawaiian plantation era. Cottages feature comfortable Hawaii-style furniture, a fully equipped kitchen and private lanai. Each cottage has its own ...More details

Great location and views

The cottages are in a beautiful location and of a bygone era. Although a bit tired, they were charming to stay at and the grounds are lovely. We watched the sunset and enjoyed a walk on the black sand beach. We visited the Waimea Canyon which is nearby and also our NaPali boat tour conveniently left from a small harbor just about a mile away.
Charming serene location, lacking good food options!

You could not find a more beautiful property on the island. This is a place where you will be left alone to enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. The cottages are charming. A great option during COVID-19! However the main drawback is the food. There is essentially just fast food and bad mixed well drinks on the property with no other healthy dining options around within 20 mins. The kids loved the fried chicken and the pizza, but the adults were wishing for healthier options. I'll be curious to see in the coming years if they decide to rethink their food program... If they do we would definitely come back!
Gorgeous property, slightly tired looking accommodations.

We love the location and staying in a cottage. It would not take much for Coast hotels to do some modest upgrades to improve the appearance of the interior of the cottage we stayed in, and it’s badly needed. Paint, bathroom fixture upgrades, and maintenance would go a long way to making this a much more pleasurable stay.

The setting under the banyan tree in front of the Managers Cottage cannot be beat for a wedding. We got married at the end of September and everything was perfect. The staff at WPC was patient and helpful in rescheduling our wedding twice. We stayed in the Managers Cottage and overall it was a cute throw back. Each of the 5 rooms had its own air conditioning unit but there was not air conditioning in the rest of the house. It was very hot in September during the day so we wish the entire place had A/C. Our guests also commented that their cottages only had one A/C unit (that was standard no matter of it was a 1 bedroom or 3). The plumbing in the cottages also needs to be updated. The Managers Cottage upstairs bathroom became clogged and water started pouring through the ceiling into the living room. Other guests in other cottages said they had a #1 only bathroom since the toilet would always back up otherwise. Maintenance was quick to come over and help out the situation. We’ll definitely be coming back regularly as this place holds a special place for us now.
Wonderful Waimea Plantation Cottages

While doing research for staying on Kauai, I was lucky enough to stumble across Waimea Plantation Cottages. Figuring that staying in an oceanview coast cottage was too romantic to pass up, I booked one for my partner and I. We checked in after our drive through Waimea Canyon and were assigned cottage 63. The concierge was friendly and efficient, explaining that during the pandemic, there would be no housekeeping. But if we needed anything, we could call down to the front desk and staff would leave the requested items in a bag on our door. The cottage itself was the farthest up from beach, but charmingly located. My partner remarked that this was the nicest of the three places we stayed at while visiting the Hawaiian Islands. The cottage was by far, the most spacious, containing a roomy kitchen with dining table (the welcome bottle of prosecco, shell leis, bottles of water and Kauai guides were so nice and thoughtful), a spacious living room with ceiling fan, and a lanai that we had breakfast out on, every morning of our stay. The bathroom was larger than most studio apartments back in NYC, where it could contain both a tub and a large standing shower. The bedroom had an extremely comfortable king sized bed, ceiling fan and air conditioner. The property also had a pool and a private black sand beach, which was wonderful for walks. And there was a guest laundry room where use of the washing machines and dryers were free of charge and one could get detergent from the front desk (though you had to figure out the best time to use it. I had a laundry jam with 2 people using it the same time I wanted to use it). I was also able to enjoy lunch at Chicken in a Barrel which was tasty. The coffee they provided in the kitchen was one of the best I had during my stay. When we had returned back home to NYC, we received a lovely postcard from Waimea Cottages, which just reinforced how wonderful and charming this place is.
