More about the hotel
A bit disappointing
Some of the staff were absolutely amazing, Amy especially plus the head of reception. Our room was REALLY small and there was a HUGE gap under our door, so you could feel a strong draft even when on the bed plus you could hear everything. We rang reception and was told it was full so they couldn’t move us. So, we walked down to the reception and spoke to head of reception nicely, and she said we could move. So, I am pleased we persisted with that as our room was much quieter without the draft. We had lunch, which was nice and sat in the bar and drank a few cocktails, which was also good. The bartender was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, we were served by Amy who was extremely friendly and helpful so that was a lovely start to the day. But, the rest of the staff weren’t as friendly. The head of reception and Amy should be given the role of showing everyone how to be friendly. The hotel is based practically in the centre so easy to walk for dinner and to see Tunbridge. They offer parking but make sure you book as there is only a few spaces. I visit the area a few times a year, but would not stay here again as thought it was expensive for what it was.
COVID skeleton staff shouldnt mean being ignored and overcharged!
I had to be in the area as a keyworker...I'm a social worker. Its a ovely hotel building and Rachel on the desk was helpful...but breakfast is still charged at £18 even though its toast (with flora???) and lukewarm coffee...a boiled egg surely isn't beyond their imagination? I arrived back from an exhausting day at work to find dirty dishes in my room and bed unmade, no change of towels etc...overpriced drinks are standard but not even bed made? Very few people here of course so skeleton staff isn't really an excuse..and it wasn't obvious that it was an additional £20 per night for my therapy dog to stay. Overall deeply disappointing and I feel quite honestly rather ripped off. I wouldn't be staying again even though I travel frequently for work if this is all they manage even with hardly any guests. Clearly a management issue, the staff here are all lovely.
Romantic weekend treat
Beautiful hotel in the middle of the town..lots of restaurants, bars and cafes in walking distance. Beautiful room..we had one with a roll top bath which was such a treat. Great breakfast with table service.... recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice! Lots locally to see and do. Recommended paying for parking as very restricted due to small plot. Lovely, helpful staff. Would definitely return!
Wonderful wedding lunch and stay
Following our small wedding at the nearby registry office we had a wonderful family lunch in a private dining room for our reception. The food was fantastic, as were the staff, and we had a lovely meal and stay in the Principal Room. It all felt very Covid-safe across both the dining and the room we stayed in. Thank you to all at Hotel Du Vin for not only accommodating us, but making it stress free in these trying times.
