Disappointed with our stay in room 251

Reviewed 27 november, 2021

We stayed here on our first family vacation since the start of the pandemic. We spent our first few days in Key Largo and splurged on a few nights here in Key West. This is the most expensive hotel for this itinerary. We reserved a king with sleeper sofa and were happy with the overall set up of the room. The first thing that we did was open our slider and it promptly got stuck and wouldn't close. Maintenance was called, came up and I guess they looked at the front door and reported it as fixed to the front desk. After waiting a while I went down to the front desk and asked how long maintenance may take and they said that it had been fixed but when I said it hadn't, someone from the front desk came to my room to investigate. They called maintenance back and they "fixed" the door by jamming it shut so that it was locked and couldn't be opened. As our stay progressed it became apparent that we probably would not have used the balcony anyway due to the awkward location at the end of another building. Because of this location we also had to keep our curtains closed for privacy sake making our room a cave for most of our time in it. The bed appeared to have had a corner support broken but instead of being fixed it was just rotated to the "head side" by the wall. The slope toward the floor that this created made it impossible to sleep, not to mention the resident rooster that crowed on the ground somewhere outside from 1am to 4am each evening (bring earplugs!). The front door of the room faces a busy road with a side street intersection. The door has a 1 inch gap underneath it and is somewhat open around the jam. This allowed ALL of the street sounds from emergency vehicles, loud motorcycles and cars taking off from the side street and squealing their wheels into the room. The opening would also make it pretty easy for critters of all kinds to make their way in. We put a rolled towel at the bottom of the door but it didn't help much with the volume from the street. The shower in room 251 has little water pressure and can use some cosmetic attention. The shuttle(s) to and from Old Town left promptly and the shuttles were one of the reasons we stayed here over other options. Several people in addition to us commented about the strong smell of urine in the white shuttle; it needs a professional cleaning before it should be used again. The grey shuttle was wonderful and had a great driver who wore their mask the whole time. I'm not usually a complainer but it certainly was unfortunate to have had this experience and be told that there was nothing that could be done. IF I stayed here again, I would insist that it not be in this particular room or location within the facility.

TINY rooms - nice pool area

Reviewed 26 november, 2021

TINY rooms that have seen their share of wear and tear. No space for an end table next to the bed so turned a garbage pail upside down and used that. One person sink outside bathrooms so if someone is brushing their teeth there is no room to pass to use the toilet. Not a lot of space for luggage. The pool area is nice with spurting fountains and lush greenery. I guess the room would be okay if you are travelling alone.

Pretty pool area

Reviewed 24 september, 2021

The highlight of the hotel is the pool area. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The hotel is super old and the smallest rooms I have been in. We had roaches in the room. They send for fumigation but just the thought of having roaches crawling allover my things. They charge an automatic $25 a day and it covers the shutter to Duvall and from, chairs at the sunset beach and a drink coupon for buy 1 get 1 free.

Fairfield Inn by Marriott - The Keys Collection

Great place to stay! Nice and clean and Theresa made the check in process seamless! The complimentary beer was nice and cold and the pool was refreshing. I would recommend the Fairfield Inn for a place to stay when visiting the keys.

Beautiful Pool and Grounds

Reviewed 11 september, 2021

The pool and the grounds were amazing! Our room, however, was very small and tight quarters for 4 mostly adults (not like the pictures). Thankfully we were there to sleep and shower only. The bathroom had recently been redone and was very nice. The breakfast area was nice but since we were there during Covid, they provided a boxed breakfast only. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even have a free van to take you to/from Duval Street. We enjoyed our time here!
