Worst Bonvoy Experience Ever

Reviewed 19 march, 2023

We just had a really bad experience at the Fairfield Inn & Suites/The Keys Collection. After a 20 hour day of travel, we arrived at the Fairfield only to be told that they'd oversold the hotel and the room that we'd booked 4 months earlier had been given to someone else. I'm a gold elite Bonvoy member and this is not what I'm accustomed to at Marriott properties, so I was shocked--and also just plain exhausted from the travel. We needed to sleep somewhere and didn't really have a choice in the matter so we took what we could get. We were told we could switch rooms during our stay if our original room became available--because that's what every traveler wants is to change rooms mid-stay. Incredibly inconvenient. I was with 2 other adults--we'd booked a 2 queen bed suite so that we'd have plenty of room to spread out our stuff. Instead we were given a regular king room with a rollaway bed. It was on the second floor and the elevator was broken, so we had to lug all of our stuff up 2 flights of stairs (no assistance was offered) and wait for another hour for the rollaway bed to arrive (the rollaway bed was gross and the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on, including the ground). We were all nearly in tears by that point. I'll be honest--if this is how they treat their best, most loyal customers with elite status, I shudder to think how they treat everyone else. It was possibly the worst Bonvoy experience I've ever had. In terms of everything else, the pool looked nice, but we didn't have time to check it out. The hotel location is not great--you definitely cannot walk to much of anything at all and Ubers are pretty expensive, as is parking everywhere on Key West, which we knew. The hotel does have a shuttle, but it only goes one place and it's schedule was tricky to time. Breakfast was ok, not great. The hotel could definitely use some updates...and the elevator needs repaired--it was really hard to carry everything up and down to the second floor. I will give a shout out and thank you to Mimi at the front desk. She was kind, helpful and endlessly patient as I kind of melted down. She did end up giving us $100 discount each night and waived the resort fees in response to our room debacle. Mimi deserves a raise for trying to clean up the mess that others had made for her.

Property in Dis-repair, not a value for the $

Reviewed 16 march, 2023

Hotel not kept up. Location too far from action. Room was below average. Property condition is slipping. For same quality & service, recommend Wyndham loyalty program is decent. Good Value compared to low end Marriott Properties which have slipped in quality and service due to their Covid Excuse Greed.

Nice Property

Reviewed 10 march, 2023

Stayed here two nights while visiting Dry Tortugas National Park and Key West. Very nice property with large bathroom and plenty of hot water! Free tram service to and from the downtown area was super helpful and saved a lot on the pricey parking in Key West. Plenty of roosters roaming around and crowing made it truly feel like Key West!

Clean Rooms and Great Staff

Our room was very clean and looked new. Theresa at the front desk was amazing. Very kind and helpful. Loved the free shuttle to downtown. Great free breakfast. Plenty of staff to keep the food replenished. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Key West Best Friends!

Reviewed 6 march, 2023

Theresa and Kristina at the front desk are my best friends now from coming so much! Love the location and friendly staff. The suite rooms are big with nice beds and smell so clean when they are serviced. The pool is nice and quiet, just need a good bartender to serve drinks! When I am in town I always make sure to stay here the at the Key Collection Fairfield.
