Nice Little Spot

Reviewed 7 august, 2022

Very good location (and we've stayed just about everywhere in KW), attentive staff. We had a HUGE room (for key West) and enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was a little lacking for a B&B. One day, no butter pats for breads and waffles. Mostly we ate out, which kinda defeats the reason for staying at a B&B in the first place... Would have liked to have a small table in the room since sitting outside for happy hour or breakfast meant being eaten alive by mosquitos. Price was reasonable though... Sun deck was really cool. No kids was a plus!!!

Great location

I loved the location of this hotel....one block to Duval Street. I got a really good price for this hotel online, which is a plus for Key West. The room #45 was clean but really needed updating. The bathroom was small with no counter space. It did have a small refrigerator and full length mirror. Clean towels were brought to us every morning. The breakfast was basic with yogurt, fruit, muffins, toast, cereal, juices, and breads. Breakfast did not start until 8am but coffee was served at 7:30am. If you want a hot breakast two doors down is Serabeth's with amazing eggs benedict. The staff was very nice but they are only there between 8am and 5pm. If you arrive later than 5pm your instructions for your room are left on the office door. The pool was very nice and right outside my door. The hotel was always very quiet. Towels are supplied for you at the pool. I did not stay in my room very often so I did not mind that the room was small. The price and location was what was important to me.

Good, but not great

The pros…yummy coffee provided every morning. The cons…our room (#4) lacked a closet, a functional entrance French door, and our pocket door to the bathroom was a joke. It would not close entirely and at one point, I literally got stuck inside the bathroom. Definitely needs a new frame and a new pocket door. Also hooks on the wall in addiction to an upgraded window unit would be most desirable. One other note of importance, there were never enough beach towels.. they were not replenished throughout the day. Once they were gone, no more towels till the following day and as stated before, they were limited.

Disappointing Return

Reviewed 10 june, 2022

We just finished a week trip to Key West. We hadn’t been since prior to pandemic but have visited about a dozen times over the last 25 years or so. Love to visit Key West. We have always stayed at The Heron House and I must say how disappointed I was. It had previously been close to a five star inn now it is sliding towards a two star. Room was ok but it is worn and not as clean as could be. Mattress was dreadful. Smoke detector went off in middle of night. I took it down an gave to desk clerk and it was never fixed. Room needs updated and bathroom had leaky sink fixtures. While it was so hard to get a reservation I suspect I won’t be going back to beloved Key West anytime soon.

So - so. Just a basic old fashioned guesthouse

The location is good if you want to spend most of your time on Duval Street and don’t want to walk far. Just one block. Pool is clean but only 4 lounge chairs available. Kind of continental breakfast is available but service was rude. You have to go early, if you want to get fresh fruit. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Hot water in a pot for tea? Go and heat up your cup with cold water in the microwave yourself. Happy Hour from 3 to 4, but only cheap red and white wine. No beer, no snacks. Our room was quite and spacious, but interior from the late 80’s, including the bathroom. Towels have been replaced on request, bed not done once in a week. I’m coming to Key West since 2004 and stayed in several guesthouses before. Compared to the price we payed this was far the worst experience. Can’t recommend. Sorry
