Downhill from a year ago

Reviewed 15 october, 2021

Our room was not ready for check-in - at 7 pm! We were offered a complimentary breakfast to compensate, which was truly awful and I was glad we didn't pay for it. The door to our room had to be slammed to shut it properly, the sink did not drain properly, and while clean, it did not have a "newly renovated" feel. We will not be back.

Great location downtown

Hotel is right downtown and restaurants and bars are within walking distance. The beds were really comfortable. Our room had a view of the Harbour which was an added extra. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast food was particularly delicious.

Very clean and very comfortable!

The Holiday Inn Waterfront in Kingston has long been my go to hotel in the beautiful historic downtown of Kingston, Ontario. The recent renovations are outstanding - modern with the right balance of class and warmth. The hotel was extremely clean and appropriate COVID prevention protocols were in place and adhered to. We were at ease and very comfortable. Would stay again and recommend to our friends and family!!

Worst customer service experience ever!

Reviewed 22 september, 2021

This "newly renovated" hotel had stained carpets throughout and rude management.Room was not what we booked and manager told us to leave if we weren't happy as nothing else was available despite 2 waterfront balconies available on website. We were told that travel sites overbooked and if I booked through another site, they would not accommodate the reservation. At close to 300$ per night off-season, definitely not worth it!!

Nice Views from Rooms on Harbour Side

Reviewed 13 september, 2021

Stayed from Sep6-9/21. Room was great with balcony for two that we really got to enjoy, with a terrific view of the harbour. In summer there are some things I must have including a balcony that 2 people can easily sit out on, a great view, and a pool. A restaurant on site is a bonus and on its website HI Kingston Waterfront offered a patio out over the water in the harbor - couldn’t wait to spend money at this lovely OUTDOOR patio restaurant. The website says there is a heated pool but this isn’t what we got. On our first day, I was told the pool emp didnt show up for their shift. So, no swim for us! Next day, I was allowed to reserve a swim, but was told - still no staff person policing the pool - no big deal except once in pool area, one look at the cloudy water and a toe in the water revealed water temperature to be at about the same temp I keep my hot tub at home – felt like 99-100 degrees. No way I was going into a very cloudy-watered overly-hot pool. Still there was the restaurant, except that the patio listed on the website as open was closed the Monday through Wednesday nights that we were there – not as advertised! We did get a tasty full service INDOOR breakfast Wednesday and Thursday mornings but no patio. The restaurant issue would not have bothered me at all if the pool was clean & at pool temp. But my list of complaints grew as my lack of delight at my stay intensified. Lastly, the “free” wifi is more than paid for in the $24.00 a night out-door, parking fee.
