Best location, best value

We stayed a week here (after a week in Phrae Ae at Thai House Beach Resort, and before a week in Kaw Kwang at Twin Bay. It was excellent value at £60/night with breakfast in high season). The room was well-equipped with wardrobe fridge, good aircon etc and a good shower, and a nice veranda; rooms were clean with towels and bedding changed daily. Sunbeds, mattresses, toys, beach towels and parasols were available for the beach and the small pool (a big plus). Reception staff were friendly, but 3 of the 4 restaurant and bar staff were often too busy chatting or on their phones, or just surly (our only criticism of the place), so we chose to eat elsewhere. The biggest plus of all is its location, and we preferred it to Phrae Ae (Long Beach). Klong Nin beach is 2.2 km long and Ilmare is at the very northern end by a little rocky headland and klong (small tidal stream), which is very pretty and interesting, with safe bathing (the beach to the south is straight sand until you reach the next headland). There are a few restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and an excellent German Bakery. Then 500 meters south of Ilmare (a 10 minute stroll along the beach or dusty road) is Horizon Road, a line of resorts, bars and restaurants (recommend Kansa for a relaxing time, Richey for a lively vibe, or Otto for western food in a relaxed setting). If you cross the bridge over the klong (or paddle at low tide) there is very friendly place called Klong Nuiy Seafood where the owners may provide a half-price taxi service (500 Baht return to Lanta Old Town). Beyond that is a beautiful little bay called Klong Toab where we often swam; it is dominated by the luxury Rawi Warin resort which picked arguably the best spot in Ko Lanta. It would be hard to find a anywhere better than Lanta Ilmare for the money.

We stayed here for 5 nights in January 2020, greeted by staff with lovely smiles and cold water and wanting to take our bags to our room for us. Rooms very close to the beach, almost on it. Breakfast was lovely and meals / snacks throughout the day were excellent and reasonably priced for a hotel. The rooms very spacious and very clean. The pool is lovely and the grounds are lovely too! The staff cannot do enough for you, they booked onward travel for us and accommodated us again when we stayed on for a further 3 nights. Mopeds are a must to see Koh Lanta and if you are a Liverpool fan, Bobby's Bar across the way is fab, Bobby is a huge red!!

Overall, our family really enjoyed our stay at Lanta Ilmare. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow, with a lovely seaview. The bungalows are not situated directly by the beach - there is a little bridge over a small canal leading to the beach. The hotel is located right at the north end of Klong Nin beach - it's quiet, which we liked, and there some good restaurants nearby. The pool was small, but never crowded during our stay. The resort is fairly small and cosy, and the canal adds a special atmosphere. The negatives: the breakfast was poor (we didn't try the restaurant for other meals). The bathroom sink was placed absurdly high. The extra bed was impersonating a hammock. But, the good things outweighed the bad, and I'd consider visting again.
Great location on the beach

Stayed here for 5 nights in a deluxe double with garden view. Hotel has great access to the beach and a nice pool (although pool may prove to be a litlle small when the resort is busy). Short 15 minute walk either along the beach or along the road to the main area of bars and restaurants. Good breakfast with choices covering the usual, American/Continental/Local and served in a lovely setting overlooking the beach. Rooms clean and a good size. The only minus points were that towels were a little threadbare and bedding was marked. Bathroom could do with modernisation too. Also, no real interaction from staff who, although they did their jobs, didn't seem to be interested in conversation etc.
Excellent value for money

We booked this hotel for a couple of nights whilst travelling around Koh lanta. When we arrived the staff let us check in to our room 3 hours early which was really helpful. The room was very clean, good air conditioning and waters/coffee free of charge. Our room was right next to reception and was very quiet and close to the pool and restaurant which was perfect. The beach is literally over a small bridge and they have their own section of the beach with a volleyball net! The breakfast was better than most. It’s cooked to order which we thought was better than a buffet style as it was always hot. They have a laundry service which is really cheap and returned within a few hours. All of the staff were very helpful throughout and would help booking excursions, taxis etc. Very good hotel resort and would definitely stay again!
