On arrival a lovely welcome was given by the friendly lady at reception. Rooms were clean, comfortable and very warm. Kitchen facilities available for guests to prepare their own meals. Can't fault the place, especially for the price. The beautiful wooden double staircase and landings are a particularly nice feature of this establishment.

No check-in, no staff on site. Room wasn't ready after check in. Very small parking, rat droppings found in hall way. Self service kitchen was a mess, only positive reviews seem to be from the owners. Avoid at all cost!

I stayed here for several days. I arrived on a cold wet evening. I was welcomed by a lovely lady who introduced herself and showed me to my room. She explained all the procedures one expects in a hotel. There is a self check in service if no one is available but it's very simple to use. Just remember to read your emails for instructions. There was not any room service during my stay, this is acceptable due to the covid restrictions. I found the hotel to be warm, quiet and clean. There is an emergency contact number if no one is around. There is a small carpark at the hotel but they is also a very large public one adjacent to it. Is not expensive. The room was more than adequate, shower/jacuzzi/bath, tea and coffee facilities, TV, wardrobe and drawers and a very comfortable bed. The hotel is in the middle of the town with a cafe opposite for breakfast and plenty of eating and drinking places within a few minutes walk. If you like a good real ale try Watson's micropub near the clock tower. Before I arrived I was very apprehensive about the hotel after reading the reviews. But was extremely satisfied with the new owners hotel and have booked again for next year. Don't let the unnecessary negative reviews put you off.

The place is an absolute horror

We were meant to stay here for one night , once we walked through the janitors closet to our room we were greeted by a stench of cat urine , rat faeces on the bedroom floor , damp on the walls …basically a slum . We didn’t stay preferring to make a three and a half hour journey home than stay in this place. My advise …look elsewhere

Worst hotel I've stayed at, fire alarm went off 5 times during the night. No staff on site to turn it off. Rang the 24 7 line and they didn't know what to do. (Helpful and a chocolate fireguard) Fire doors were locked! Only 5 free parking spaces which were full. Do not go to this hotel, avoid like it's covid
