Rooms in the side building aren't great

A group of 25 stayed a single night at this hotel. The main building was charming. However, I did not see the rooms. Our group had rooms in the side building. This building was isolated, and not worth visiting. We stayed on the top floor. The room was simple and clean. But not cozy or inviting. Consequently - we spent almost no time in our room. I would rate this room 1 or 2 stars. The only reason the hotel gets a 3 star is because the service was good. The main building was nice. Plenty of parking and the restaurant was fine. I would not avoid this place. But I also do not recommend it.

Nice and relaxing location for a short getaway. We stayed at the main building and did some walking on the trails nearby. Friendly receptionist and staff. Food served at restaurant was good and lots of breakfast options. Other reviews mention that the place is old, which it is and not necessarily a bad thing. I like how they try to preserve the cozy feel.

Must have been magnificent in the 1980s

Parking is ample. Breakfast was good. The staff was considerate, helpful and friendly. There are several buildings apart from the main building. It is a campus setup that must have been magnificent in its heyday (probably the 1980s). Now it is a bit rundown and needs some cosmetic work and renovation. The first night we were put in an outbuilding about 150 meters from the main building. Keep this in mind if you want to use the sauna - you will have to walk across a large gravel parking lot to get to the wellness facility. The room smelled strongly of cat urine or dog or body odor or something. It was either in the curtains or the carpet. There was no extra room available, so we had to suffer with this the first night (room 755 I believe). The staff was friendly and moved us the second night, down the hall, and the room didn't stink. The hotel appears to be in ongoing renovation, for example the shower and beds are new, but some things are old and cheap, like the carpet. The playground, for example, had some spring-riding toys that looked unsafe due to rust and age. The outdoor chess set was missing pieces. It is a magnificent setting, and I hope the owners are able to restore what must have been a magnificent hotel in better days. For what we paid, the hotel didn't meet expectations. I would have been ok with the quality had the price been more reasonable. The smelly room was unacceptable, it was really horrendous, and something I've never experienced in many years of travel.

Perfect warm welcome, even at late hours. Room was tidy and clean. Nothing really missing. Not state of the art, but functional. Price was fair and a huge breakfast offered. Checkout also very polite. Would be a recommendation for a longer stay.

Big rooms, very big bathroom. Good breakfast, however when you arrive after a long trip it is not possible to get any food when the restaurant is closed. The hotel is not geared to help business visitors.
