The worst experience ever had in a hotel - unprofessional staff vulgar guests

Reviewed 29 august, 2022

the stay was a tragedy. we could not use the facilities of the hotel as outside guests were throwing a private party using the facilities as their own exclusive disturbing all others. we could not relax at the pool and when contacting the manager to resolve the issue their answer dealing with this situation was inconclusive, unprofessional and ultimately aggressive. so the staff allow people that are not guests of the hotel have access to the facilities. The pool was a meat pack of noisy impolite people screaming from a side to the other of the pool heavy drinking disturbing all other guests by listening to their own music out loud and despite having asked the hotel staff for a solution none intervened. loud, lousy, noisy, vulgar people are the guests of this place, mirroring the attitude of the staff, all this made the experience of the place tragic from the pool to the restaurant. this is a place pretending to be stylish offering only outright vulgarity. the manager at tue check out was verbally violent aggressive insulting me. I paid and left the property as he menaced and intimidated me physically. I ask to be refunded from what I paid and to be paid damages for a ruined day of my holiday where I could not relax and I did not even have a meal so much the environment was unpleasant. The culminating violence of the manager at check out is something I never experienced in my life and I pretend to be never exposed to anything similar again in my life. I ask you to intervene on this matter.

A nice option to consider

Reviewed 25 august, 2022

I’m a globalist member with Hyatt and my wife and I took a weeklong trip to the south of France. This seems like a great jumping off point for the first part of our trip considering we did not want to stay directly in St. Tropez and still have access to Provence and the entire region. The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The drive down to St. Tropez is a little annoying, but the access only a few kilometers away to the main highway and the rest of the area is ideal. This hotel has so much potential. There are a lot of things to marvel at, but there’s also a lot of things that with a few kinks worked out could be made excellent. It’s almost as if they ran out of money putting this property together because a couple million dollars more would’ve turned this property into something fantastic. At the moment it’s a great boutique property that is light on amenities but nice on charm. And compared with some of the prices for properties in the overrated St. Tropez area, this is a great option to consider.

Lovely Architecture/Lovely Atmosphere - Mediocre Service Mediocre Management

Reviewed 22 august, 2022

I live in the area. I have visited the restaurant 6 times over the past 24 months for dinner with wife, or with visiting guests. I have told my wife we simply cannot go again "hoping" they get it right. I honestly wonder why there is such high investment, but such little staff training. Or why the "Lead Hostess" are so impressed with themselves, yet seem unable to actually practice leadership or management. I beg...I plead...I cajol...I pray....in English and French to get "apperatif", followed by "entree", followed by "plat principal" with the service staff. After two experiences, I thought it would be enough to explain the desire NOT to get all the food and drinks ALL AT THE SAME TIME. A waste of time. It appears to be an UP tradition with my table. Once I even waited 30 minutes between placing aperatif order and meal order. Same result. Like some strange UP gift. Pre-dinner cocktail, warm wine, entree and plat principal served SIMULTANEOUSLY. It's all strange. Not once. 4 times? It is literally impossible at UP to get a bottle of wine, chilled, served prior to the meal, even if you beg. Three times out of 6 my table gets "warm rose wine", and when I point out it should be chilled...cool...not the temperature of the canacule/heat wave, I'm told to put some ice in my glass. O.K. Sure...Great plan. They bring an ice bucket. NOT A CHILLED BOTTLE. Bizarre to be sure. I looked at my wife and asked is this some weird Parisien joke? She's French....She's mortified. Request the "least expensive cognac"....repeat myself twice given the history and the disaster of serving times....in two languages...find a check with the EUR28 cognac...some sort of "gift" from the serveur. She seems happy with her "erreur". No ability to acknowledge...No ability to correct...No interest in "making a relationship and making a happy customer". No....That's not the plan at "UP". When I ask the service team "Is this what you do? Is this the service standard?", explaining "It's fine with me...I don't care personally....do what you want...I just am curious if it's just me that gets this special handling or you do this with everybody" there's this look of embarrassment and awkwardness and then I get to hear about where some waitress or waiter are from, and how amazing it is that I can speak French and English and my wife can too, and most of the customers are English and they don't care. Wonderful. There's too much capital investment to have such consistently poor dining service. Is it salaries? Is it lack of training? Did they give the good-looking people the management positions, but they have no understanding of management? Food tastes good. Portions proper. In a normal world, somebody should be replaced by somebody who actually CARES about both the client, the business, and the entire UP experience.

Luxury hotel short on both luxury and service

Reviewed 22 august, 2022

Very pretty property with vineyard, large pool, and restaurant with nice terrace. Location is a plus if you like being somewhere quiet and isolated but a negative with respect to outings to coastal villages. Room was dark and small for a modern "luxury" hotel at this price point. Soundproofing was nonexistent. Service, with the exception of housekeeping, was terrible. While some of the staff were welcoming, the majority seemed indifferent at best. Room service actually seemed annoyed at having to deliver food to the room. And the one time we did dine in, they got the order wrong.
