Not pet friendly

Reviewed 20 august, 2021

Despite what Tripadvisor filter says, this hotel does NOT allow pets. I cannot review this hotel because we were told at time of check in that pets are not allowed so did not stay. I could not leave a review without a rating and I am only giving it 3 stars because the front desk was unnecessarily rude about the fact that we tried to check in with the dog. The property looked nice and I now know to verify directly with a hotel before booking.

A gem in La Porte

Of all the motels we stayed in during a 2-week road trip from the East Coast to the Upper Midwest and back, this was the most comfortable and pleasant. The room was spacious, the towels thick, the amenities generous, and the breakfast above average. The motel is across the street from one of the 9 lakes in LaPorte, and its next-door neighbor is a Mexican restaurant that lacks much style but is welcoming and serves up good food. We’ve not had good experiences with motels near the Indiana Turnpike, but this was a good one.

Great hotel for "home base" during daily excursions!

We love staying at this hotel during our 2-3 day excursions to Michigan's wine country. While it's only about 10 minutes from state line, the casinos, wineries, and shopping are close enough to save $$ compared to staying just over the border in Michigan. Everyone we met from check in to check out were so friendly and professional. They even remembered us when we returned from our outing. It was very welcoming. We booked two king rooms that were both clean and spacious; each with a comfortable bed. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness, and staff.

We appreciate hotels from Choice. They are generally dependably clean, and pleasant. Comfort Inn LaPorte takes it to a whole different level. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the obvious care in every detail, a pool cleaner than any we have ever been in, caused our brief 2 night stopover to feel more like a resort stay. The management here is simply superb. Being right across the street from the lake and lovely park was also a definite plus.

Glad they had a room available

I had originally booked a night at Travelodge in LaPorte after reading some reviews. After walking into the "dungeon" they called a check in area, I refused to stay there. Down the street is the Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Chose the Comfort. Decent room but the doors were not tight to the outside corridor so there was some light shining in. When I checked out, I mentioned that. They told me that was a planned fix in the near future. Shower floor grout need to be redone. Standard breakfast. Friendly staff.
