weekend getaway at our favorite go-to place

We have stayed at FCI multiple times and have never had a bad experience. Whether it's the King suite, Loft and or Cottage...it's always great to stay here. (if for any reason, there is an issue...Eric is real quick to amend.
the lake view is fantastic from any room.
This past weekend we stayed in the top floor of the cottage.
We love walking in and finding a complementary bottle of either red, white and or bubbly to enjoy.
The jacuzzi tub overlooks the lake which is nice!!
the room is plenty big and bed is very comfortable.
being fall, the fire place added a real nice touch walking in with it on.
the view in fall is our favorite.
thanks Eric and staff for taking care of us (again)
We love it here!!

The French Country Inn is located right on beautiful Lake Como, just outside of downtown Lake Geneva, and away from the touristy area of town. We wanted to get away for a few days and just chill by the water, but also be close enough to shopping and nice restaurants, and this Inn was the perfect spot. Our balcony had an amazing view of the whole lake, and we spent most of our time there reading, drinking wine and snacking on the appetizers we brought. The room was charming, but the weather was so perfect, that we wanted to spend as much time as possible outside. The service and amenities were great and they even had kayaks ready and available to use any time. We felt so relaxed the whole time we were there and the serenity and tranquility of the Inn’s location, just put us in a good mood. We plan to return again soon. D & J
Good view, but nothing else.

We booked this place because it was right on the lake and had a good view, and good reviews.
The main reason for the bad review: Night one at about 3am, water began leaking from our bathroom ceiling fixture. I put a towel under it and it was clear the water was not clear. It was brown/rust colored. I of course could not sleep any more that night, as I could only think about the brown water drip from the ceiling. I figured the next morning that we'd tell the person at the desk, and they'd get us another room. He was very friendly, but did not get us another room. He ran upstairs to see what the problem was, and it turned out the unit above ours had overflowed their tub, and the brown color was just coming from the rust in the vents (still not terribly reassuring). The desk guy assured us that our room would be comped for our two night stay. Upon checkout, we asked if it was all taken care of, he said it was. It was not. I emailed twice to ask them to fix it and refund the room. They still have not. It's been nearly 3 weeks since our visit.
Summary- brown water leaking into our room and broken promise on refunding the room. This is terrible business, and why I'm rating French Country Inn at 1 star.
Other issues that I might have overlooked if not for the above:
1. Carpet was clearly quite stained.
2. It is supposed to be a charming B&B, but "breakfast" is only packaged goods (slim jim, yogurt, etc) in a bag to go. They say this is because of COVID, but there's no way that's true, as no one has to wear a mask ever...
3. No fresh coffee service even. Just a crummy little Keurig machine.
4. Extremely loud window AC units.
On the plus side, it has a great view.
We will return.... But

The good: great location, in-room hot tub
The opportunities (one example):
- TV's didn't work, mostly. Someone named Jill left her Prime account open so we were able to watch some recorded shows. I googled "TV issues at French Country Inn" looking for a solution. I found a Trip Adviser review about this same issue, where an Electrical Engineer couldn't figure it out. He was told to unplug the cords and replug them. I was told the same thing when at the front desk. Another guest was there as well and said that all they could get was the History Channel.
- There are some simple fixes that I will email GM Eric about.
These are challenging times for all of us, including businesses. Patience is essential, so a couple of low or no cost suggestions will be emailed to him directly.
This is a very dated and aging facility.
With all of that said, we will return, figuring that this may be a pandemic-related series of issues.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway, then unit 225 is the place for you. Private balcony, two-person Jacuzzi, multi-faced fireplace, ample sitting area, second floor of a two unit building located just yards from the shore of Lake Como. We will always choose this room when we are in the area. Eric, the manager, and his staff are very welcoming. I've decided to buy gift certificates for each of my three married children. Yes, we had a wonderful time!
