Marriott Brand...... Should have been better

Reviewed 27 october, 2021

PROS: The very nice woman who checked us in Friday, October 22. She was knowledgeable about the area and gave menus PROS: Room was quiet. We never heard a neighbor or anyone in the hallways. PROS: The insta-hot water system was amazing!!! PROS: Did not have connecting door to next room. PROS: Shower stall was easy to get in and out of......... but CON was that it was slippery and no tub mat was present. PROS: Various seating areas. CONS: The room was an odd layout. The bed was right by the open cut out to the sink/closet area. No way to use that area without waking up someone. There was a door to the toilet/shower. Room would be best for one person. CONS: Bed was not as comfy as it could have been. CONS: The room was not as clean as it should have been. We had to ask to have the wall washed off above the eating table b/c the wall had MANY gross food marks. Most of it was cleaned off. In general, the lightswitches and such need to be cleaned after every guest. Crumbs were visible in the desk chair cushion corners. CONS: The bedding was not clean!! The top waffle sheet was clean, the sheets were clean, but the thicker comforter inbetween had visible black dirt on it, like dirty hands that pulled the comforter up guest after guest. CONS: The 4 pillows were all the same--- exceedingly flat during use. CONS: Some of the towels did not smell clean. Some smelled like dried cat pee. CONS: Mystery cleaning schedule. We got the room cleaned on Saturday (probably b/c I stopped to ask if the wall could be cleaned). But did not get cleaning on Sunday. In the morning, I called to ask for just clean towels and trash emptied. That never happened. When we called back down in the late afternoon, we were told that we had to request room cleaning the night before. My husband took the dirty towels and the trash down himself. This was NOT made clear to us at any point in our stay. For the money, and for the Marriott brand, trash and fresh towels daily should be a minimum expectation. CONS: There were not many seating areas by the pool. Basically a table with chairs and two sets of loungers with umbrellas. I would think it would be difficult for guests to have access to a place to sit if more than 3 couples were there. CONS: VERY VERY VERY loud equipment (blower?) for at least 4 hours on Monday morning. Came from the parking lot below 410. We couldn't see anyone and the noise never moved left or right. What on earth was being done for 4 long loud hours???!!!!

needs to be cleaned up

I was in this hotel twice in 2 weeks for 1 night each time. The hotel needs to supervise the cleaning of the rooms. It was not clean. In one of our rooms, we had really damaged carpet. The location was very convenient for our needs, quality of sleep was good but it was not great in terms of cleaning. Service was friendly as well.

Great for Long Term stays. Clean and Nice! Kathy is wonderful at the Desk!

We checked into the Renaissance Hotel because our insurance carrier recommended it after we had a flood at our house. The front desk manager on duty was Kathy Petzold. What a wonderful lady. She helped us with our 3 month ordeal, was always smiling, and helpful with anything we needed. This women is a special employee and deserves to be recognized by her company. Thank you Kathy.

Almost Perfect

Ericka at the front desk is A#1 in our book! Effortless efficient checkin with personal attention and engaged conversations throughout our stay. Welcoming staff every area when encountered. Wonderful location with nice landscaping, well lit, property secure with frequent patrols throughout parking area, pet areas stocked with waste bags and refuse can. Safely walkable through treed office park surroundings on sidewalks that are accessible to restaurants, shopping and pharmacy; grocer a bit further but easily accomplished. Hotel covid conscious with signage and proper changes public areas, services and guest suites. Cleaning seemed to be occurring often. Pool and patio area well maintained. Grab and go bagged breakfast changes daily and well stocked. The thorn in my side occurred after our first night, when "housekeeping " knocked on the door at 11:09am, waking me from a dead sleep (don't judge, I was on vacation) to ask me if I was still checking out that day, while consulting her e-tablet. I was scheduled for several days, and she stated that she "would let the front desk know". Used the room phone to immediately call the front desk to confirm my future checkout date and was assured all was well. After getting myself together, went down to confirm with frint desk in person. Nameless female staff member confirmed my checkout date on the computer, told me that Marcea the head of housekeeping had knocked on the wrong door. She apologized and I replied "I am not happy ". Her next reply of "I am so sorry " seemed a bit lacking...never once was my Bonvoy rewards status mentioned, never was I thanked for traveling during a pandemic to spend time with them, never was I asked what she could do to ease my upset; nothing. Really, a few points in my rewards account, a few dollars off my multi night stay, a bottle of wine sent to my room, or a bag of chips from the market would have made me happy. This would not deter me from a future visit. Nor will it be forgotten as the only negative to a great time.
