Low budget for the area, but disappointing

There are two positive features of this motel: good bed and good shower. Everything else disappointed. Walls seemed dirty, makeshift door to the bathroom, no closet or dresser to hold clothes, very loud guests disturbing peace.
Not even close to the room in the picutre

First of all, the room SMELLED like it had been cleaned as the odor from the cleaning product was overwhelming. But, the room itself was just not nice. The smoke detector was removed from the ceiling (MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD), the box where the comm wires were pulled was uncovered, there were bugs in the refrigerator, a cigarette burn on the toilet seat, hair in the shower drain. The pictures online are of the main hotel but we were placed in the Mallard units next door where it appears several of the guests LIVED year round and spent a lot of their time smoking out on the small porches. Very disappointing and definitely not as it appears online.
Worse than I ever expected.

From the photos online, the hotel looked a little dated, but since we were just using it for a place to sleep, I figured it would make due. The rates were the cheapest I could find in the area so that was a huge plus. I grew up in this area and never had a need to visit the hotel so I really didn't know what it was like. At check in, I was greeted by, I assume, the owner. He was nice and check-in was pretty quick. We had a friend drop us off, and I don't think he believed me when I said there were only two staying in the room, but we weren't charged extra. When we got into the room, I was pleasantly surprised to see it was updated compared to the online photos. After shutting the door, the horrors began. The front, white door was covered in I don't know what. Black smears up and down with a huge dent the size of a fist in it. The lime green accent wall was smeared and speckled with dark stuff. The smoke detector above the vanity looked like it had been ripped off the wall, with exposed wires and the back to hold it. There was what looked like poop on the in the corner as well. When I opened the bathroom, I gasped. There was a huge black mold spot on the ceiling above the toilet, the toiletries looked like they had just been thrown on the back of the toilet and sink counter. The shower curtain, bathroom floor, door frame all were dirty and looked like they had never been cleaned. There was another hole on the front of the bathroom door that looked like another fist hole. None of the towels in the room looked like they had been put in nicely, and just lazily set down. The throw pillows on both needs both had stains on them, one of them looking really shady. The TV was huge and looked new, but had something on it that had dripped down and dried. I was honestly afraid to touch anything. Surprisingly enough, after inspecting the beds and sheets, they were clean. With it being as late as it was and us not having a way to go anywhere else, we stayed for one of our two booked nights. We couldn't handle a second and thankfully got a refund for the second night. I've been in and worked in some shady hotels, but this hotel has to be the worst. The housekeeping just really seems to not care? The floors and bedding were clean and the room didn't smell bad, but the glaring issues with the stains and stuff on the walls, the towels, the carelessness of the soaps just being thrown down show that they don't care. The smoke detector missing was also a huge worry and I'm pretty sure illegal. I would have asked for s refund for our first night as well, but we used the room. We didn't have much of a choice, but we still paid. I would not recommend this hotel unless they seriously reevaluate their housekeeping and maintenance. If this were a corporate chain hotel, they'd be shut down. Fortunately for them they're in a small town with minimal options.

I met Roger the owner of Anchorage Inn upon my arrival. He was extremely accommodating and a very friendly guy. There are not alot of options for rooms in Lakeport California but my 1st stop and my 1st choice will always be at Rogers place called the Anchorage Inn. Huge showers, microwaves, and mini fridge made the stay even more accommodating.
Inn has passed... The staff is extremely friendly

I gave two stars because the staff is very nice however the room itself is completely garbage there literally is not one inch of this room that is not filthy or broken or dirty or torn the toilet rocks like a rocking horse it smells of mildew and cigarettes and it simply is not a place I would ever stay again.
