Bags of potential
Firstly I would like to say we had a great time . The water park and location is fantastic. I hate writing negative reviews and fortunately over my 30 years of travelling abroad I haven’t had to .this unfortunately is my most negative review to date. 1.Cleanliness Big negative and unacceptable Our room wasn’t as clean as it should be even though it was cleaned everyday , the wall tiles where the towels hung was filthy with a brown / orange grime that had been on the walls for sometime ,and the floor throughout gave you a dark stain on the bottom of your feet . this made us feel uncomfortable in our room until we had cleaned it thoroughly. In all honesty we started to scrutinise the cleanliness of the place , we saw the same hand prints on the glass door leading from the restaurant to outside all week . The chairs in the restaurant were regularly dirty and the Perspex screen in front of the bar was filthy. We aren’t fussy people but the cleaning standards wasn’t acceptable. 2.The food choice in the morning was limited, there wasn’t any cereals for the kids but there was fruit and cooked items so as others have said you didn’t go hungry. Again in the evening the choice was limited and not great , donner kebab meat being the show piece one evening. I do like kebabs by the way , but I’m not sure processed lamb mince should be the main event. The drinks were ok , the usual thing you expect from all inclusive. What this place has going for it ,is it’s waterpark and location.it was very close to a lovely beach and the waterpark is brilliant. The layout of the bungalows and gardens are great ,really pretty and relaxing . We ended up eating out in the evenings after the 3rd night and used the hotel as a base. Really impressed with playa Blanca and will definitely love to return to the area. This place has so much potential and with a refurbishment of the rooms and an improvement towards cleanliness and food quality and choice this place could easily be 5 stars.
Well needed Christmas break
Just back from an all inclusive week here with Jet 2. Water Park entry was included with our stay and the reason we chose this hotel. It was fab. Only small but that made it better as you could sunbathe (when the sun was out!) and know the kids weren't too far away to see. The water slide pool was not heated so it was a shock when landing until you got used to it but after doing so then going into the lazy river and wave pool you realised they were heated. You can also eat and drink in the water park, it's included in the AI package which was really good. Soft drinks and lager were available all day and food between 12.30 - 2.30. Choice of salad, burgers, hot dog, chips, pasta and meat. Water Park closed on Tues and Thurs. Now onto the hotel. We got a fantastic price and feel what was offered reflected this. We knew the food would be limited and it was. There was always something we liked but some nights better than others. The main snack bar was closed through the day though so if you were hungry out of meal times there was only packaged sandwiches and fruit available. Hardly any choice. We ended up buying crisps etc from on site shop as our youngest is always starving out of meal times! In terms of drinks, hot drinks and juice was self service but everything else bar service apart from in the restaurant. Sometimes you had to queue but nothing major. There was about 8 cocktail choices but all were quite similar. We usually stuck to Cava, lager and local branded gin. There was entertainment and this was fine but as there was 6 of us, we normally just chatted amongst ourselves. Given the time of year, the hotel was fairly quiet and got busier towards the end of the week as other hotels were shutting. We upgraded our room to a Royal Villa Suite and it was fantastic. Really really glad we did as the hot tub was used every day for hours. Room was cleaned to a high standard and towels changed everyday too if needed. 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed in spacious living room. Would highly recommend it. The only negative I have about this hotel is what happened on Christmas Day evening. This is why I didn't give 5 stars. We were told half of the seating area was to be cordoned off (in an area where we always sat) and to sit here you had to pay! The price varied from 30 to 50 euros and you got some 'champagne' with this and a guaranteed table. It was actually Prosecco. I was told that it would be so busy we needed to pay this unless there would be nowhere to sit to watch our last night's entertainment after eating. I was also quoted 2 different prices and it was only reduced after I had spoken to other people who had paid less than I was quoted! I was also told there was only 3 tables left to book and felt real pressure as we eat later than most people and I didn't want to find there was nowhere to sit. Only the bottom area of the seating was available for free and the night before this was pretty much full. This caused real divide between our family group as some felt we should just pay and others thought no way we've already paid for all inclusive. We ending up paying reluctantly as did not want the last night ruined. It was advertised as table service too but we ended up going to the bar several times (as did others) as only 1 person serving all tables. After being told the whole paid area was fully booked it absolutely wasn't and we were clearly lied to. We got a nornal bottle of Cava that you could have had unlimited anyway as part of package then later on 1 bottle of Prosecco (not Champagne!). When coming out of the restaurant there was 1 table free in the lower area so we would have been ok not paying anything but this was down to chance. Sadly the whole experience of this did bitter the evening slightly as I don't like being lied to or being pressured to pay. And the paid for area did not have great views of the stage area, the free area did. We did notice some people just sat in the paid area too who hadn't booked but they weren't challenged, they just didn't get any Prosecco but this is what we wanted to do and we're told no, you pay for the table. Anyway, to finalise this (rather long) review. Would I come back here? Yes I would. It was great to get away from the stresses of home, we had a fab time and apart from the last night, a really enjoyable holiday.
Honest review.
Hotel reception/ entertain room all in one room, small but nice. Mini disco lady lovely really good entertainment for the kids, my little boy loved it. If your booking for a HEATED POOL from Nov - jan do not book here. The pool’s are not HEATED. When asking reception three times (as stated on web hotel page and Jet2holidays page) they didn’t seem to care and just fobbed us off. Our 4 month old baby couldn’t go in as was far to cold. We alway’s book these months with a heated pool for the babies. Both Jet2holiday reps at the hotel and reception staff were rude, unhelpful and basically just fobbed me off. Would not of booked here if we knew it would be freezing cold. Also the pool bar not open. If we were told all this you wouldn’t be as so disappointed as you expect it all on arrive. Water park is good for the kids, 3 year old loved it. Would be great in the summer as that is also freezing , but doesn’t seem to bother the kids once they in there. Bar staff, children’s entertainment lady and kitchen staff all lovely. Really helpful and friendly. Some Reception staff are very rude and unhelpful. Food very limited and always cold but couldn’t complain about the food as was all very tastey. Just lacked choice. The high chairs and chairs are never cleaned always food marks on high chairs and very sticky. So check before you pop them in there. Hotel room is a bungalow- very small and dated. Curtains are dirty, door didn’t shut properly. Cleaners only make beds and swap towels over. Floors aren’t cleaned nor is bin emptied, now on day four still full over flowing from day one, which isn’t great when you have nappies in there ! Single bed for 3 year old is in living room by door very small. Ended up in with us. Very basic 2 - 3star at a push. Beach is lovely out of the hotel right down to the left then right. Few nice cocktail bars and places to eat. Over all wouldn’t stay here again.
Peaceful, Relaxing and great value for money
We are on day 6 of a week stay at this hotel. The accommodation is 3 star, but comfortable and functional. I dont pay much attention to people complaining about a cracked tile in a bathroom, especially in this climate. The pool and seating area is wonderful, clean and spacious. 3 pools to choose from, though all very cold at this time of year. That did not stop our 8 year old from using them for hours on a daily basis. Included in our package was the Aqualava Water Park, about 30 yards from our bungalow. For an 8 year old it is perfect. Water slides (minimum height 120cm) which you felt safe to let your kids go on unsupervised as the pool that you drop into is only 110cm and there are lifeguards on duty. There is a lazy river, wave pool and younger kids splash pool with slides. All very cold, but again didnt seem to deter the kids. Kids entertainment is good, Water basketball, water polo, bowls and archery. At night a little kids disco and games. All inclusive food, some of it is very tasty, always something kids can eat and lots of fish. Normally 5/6 dishes to choose from. It's not gourmet, but its sufficient. All inclusive drinks, wine, soft drinks and beer on tap, there are cocktails available too but they are not the nicest, a bit strong for my liking. Best to get a couple of spirits in separate glasses and mix your own less potent drinks. Staff are lovely, they are working hard in exceptional circumstances, the rooms were cleaned daily, we did decline a clean a couple of days, just because it wasn't required. Theres a little shop on site, not the best stocked, but sufficient and prices are fine. We got a deal in December, which cut our package price by 50%. It felt a little like taking advantage given what we got for our money. Don't be put off by negative reviews, its been a blissful week, safe and socially distanced. Staff have been great. Taxi into playa blanca is 4 euros. There's a couple of restaurants down the road at the beach. Beach is 5 minute walk, nice little sheltered cove. Food was lovely. This was exactly what we needed after lockdowns and home schooling, its been wonderful.
One of our best holidays ever.
What a great place to stay. Accommodation was comfortable, more than satisfactory and very clean. Food was good, plenty of variety. Swimming pools and water park were out of this world! Staff were polite helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again.
