Raising the bar
I have used Campanile hotels countless times since they were first launched. Why? Because I find them good value for money, conveniently located along the main travel axes in France and because they offer a consistent, acceptable standard of accommodation. Sometimes I am disappointed that a particular hotel has not been refurbished to the latest generation, sometimes I am pleasantly surprised to find something beyond my expectations. This time, it was the latter. Instead of the standard restaurant menu which we had been offered so many times, the chef/dirigeant had prepared his own special menu for the day, using ingredients he had sourced himself. With no hesitation, I chose Moules de Bouchot frites and my wife chose Gambas. What a pleasant surprise to have such beautifully prepared dishes from nearby Mont St. Michel. When a hotel is run by the chef, then you will come back for more! So on this account, I give the hotel a higher rating than I would otherwise. It is a large Campanile, on three floors, close to the town centre and with good connections to the Le Mans Circuit. It is dog-friendly and I saw quite a few at the hotel as a doggy event was taking place nearby. But they were all well behaved and we had a good nights sleep.
Great place
Very comfortable room, tea and coffee with biscuits await you. The shower room was modern and very clean. Restaurant was very good, good choice of meals at a reasonable price. Locally made best Alfegim is a must to try. Would recommend this establishment.
Lovely restaurant
We were opassing through Le Mans and needed a niuce restaurant, and came across the Campanile. Having eaten at other Campanile restuarants over the years we were expecting the same standard. We were not disappointed and had a very pleasant meal, served by helpful staff
Good value
Hotel building is old and does not give good first time impressions. The hotel retasurant & reception was in a newer, better and separate building. Room itself was clean and fine, within the constraintsof the building.. Ventilation overngiht was limited. Overall value of a demi pension was good, although a few idiosyncrasies. Wine by the picher is now 46cl - a strange measure by any standards! But overall, food was good. Buffet starter at dinner was very good, and buffet breakfast was alos excellent. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Great place
Great place- lovely clean room with a nice toilet- perfect for a one night stay. Only disappointing thing is that it is slightly far out from the centre of Le Mans (we didn’t really check how far but I think it was slightly out) and could hear some slight music at night but not for too long so overall a pleasant stay- clean room and bathroom! Lots of parking spaces too and they are all free which is a bonus.
