Not impressed at all

I don’t like giving reviews this low but my trip here really baffled me. I stayed here for business, and although the meeting spaces were very grand, the rooms were below average for the price. I booked a double room and was given a twin, I queued for 20 minutes to question this and was told they’d run out of double rooms for the duration of my stay and as I was staying on my own I didn’t need one. I stay in hotels every week with work and couldn’t believe this blunt response. Why advertise a room if you can’t accommodate it? The floor moved beneath me in the room, the bathroom was badly grouted and falling apart, there was no hot water in the shower or the sink, and the toilet would barely flush. The windows were thin and the building work outside felt like it was in the room. Only saving grace was the lovely White Company bath products, but I’d rather be in a premier inn.
A pleasant experience

Old hotel in need of make over

This hotel is over 100yrs old and parts certainly feel like it. Check in was a struggle, but was sorted out by the manager. The lift wasn’t working, stairs only, a Porter was on hand to help. The room was small, very worn and in need of a make over, the bed was very lumpy, the window only opened a few inches, absolutely useless, then the view was of internal roof tops snd metal stairs, which were very noisy. The bathroom was old and dated and the floor sloped away as you entered, making you feel you were falling forward. The hotel was very noisy in the night, squeaky floor boards, loud pipes and doors banging Breakfast was very average, cheap ingredients Staff try hard to accommodate Plenty more hotels in the area to choose from
Small dated rooms

I stayed here for a conference. My room was small with a damp patch in one corner. The curtains were not fully attached to the rail and were stained. Dreadful nights’ sleep due to noisy glass and bin collections and lack of sound proofing. Breakfast was no way near the standard of a 4 star hotel. Tables were left uncleared and service generally slow. There are better places to stay.
One night only

Absolute sh** hole, old, tired, poor standards and extremely dated. Put me in the attic, everyone I went to my room the keys wouldn’t work. Lift not working so had to tramp up and down multiple flights of stairs each time. Disgusted and will never stay here again.
