Room was probably the nicest I have stayed in during my 12 months working in Ireland but spoiled by the fact there are no nets at windows in the main room or bathroom so little privacy without closing the main curtains/blinds. Didnt try the restaurant but hopefully it would be better than the breakfast which was possibly the worst I have had in my time in Ireland. Very limited selection, buffet style in heated trays so everything is wet due to steam and sitting for some time, no option for eggs, toaster useless bread being ejected into the fireplace at the rear, had to send coffee back as it was so weak that it had no taste at all.

Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at Leixlip Manor hotel. The room was large and the bed was sooooo lovely to sleep in. Although the bathroom needs a bit upgrading. Despite not having any vegan breakfast on the menu, the staff went all out to make sure I was catered for.

Bad reviews are unmerited! It's a hidden gem.

Nowadays, staying in a different hotel on a night away usually doesnt inspire much excitement, as many corporate lodgings have morphed into clones of each other. That is where Leixlip Manors USP lies. Arrival is shrouded in mystery as the laneway up to the manor is tucked away in the corner of the village. We arrived at twilight and so didn't get to view the surroundings which disappointed us as I imagine that they are fabulous. Our accomodation was located in the converted outhouses opposite the main building. This accomodation really hit home for me the impact that bad reviews can have on someone's business. I had read some reviews online that in my view (now that I have stayed here) are unfair and unwarranted. The room was spacious, spotless and cosy with comfortable good quality beds and a powerful hot shower.Of course if you do a detailed infrared analysis, problems can be found in every accomodation. In this case, the only flaw I found was that the paintwork on the back of the bathroom door could do with a wipe .....so what? Humans do and always will 'miss a bit' an odd time. Still five stars from me! After arriving we headed to the main building to the little bar for something to eat. The barman and receptionist both had a lovely manner in dealing with guests. Despite us being an awkward shower of so and so's, the waiter and chef did great. My husband is coeliac and both of my children have ASD (yes we are a restaurants dream)and we all left that restaurant fed and happy. Not only that, the food was priced very reasonably. The hotel is at the edge of Leixlip village and a convenient drive to Dublin. I wouldn't hesitate to return here, in fact I'd look forward to It. The historical setting alone is worth paying for and it is lovely to stay somewhere so unique with a historical background.

We arrived prior to check in time and completed necessary paperwork, explained we were heading into Dublin and were told we could collect key on return and if no receptionist would be night Porter. We arrived after 11pm after a tiring day and although very welcoming and pleasant the member of staff could not locate our booking. We waited a good ten minutes before briskly being taken to a room in the out building section of the hotel. Room was basic with a dreadful draft but did have a clean en-suite. We were only there for a few hours sleep but do not think we would return.
