I recently stayed the night and cannot fault anything! The room was clean and very comfortable and the food was top-drawer. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was going to another hotel for a wedding the following day but unfortunately, cabs are very scarce in Lenham. I was saved by Lisa who works at the D&B as she very kindly volunteered to take me. Thank you, Lisa! That was literally going the extra mile! It was very much appreciated. X
Beware of noise

We have stayed here many times but we had an awful stay this week. We were put in a ground floor room adjacent to the car park and by the exit corridor. The door closer to the exit squeaked every time it closed and could be heard in our room. Having listened to the cars arriving and leaving and their doors slamming, we asked to be moved to a quieter room. The lady kindly upgraded us to the four poster room at the front of the hotel. We walked into what was certainly a lovely room but it was right over the bar and we could hear the laughter and literally the conversations from the bar below. We decided as it was a lovely room and the bar closed at 10.30pm, we would put up with the noise. We spent the evening in the bar and went upstairs at 10.30pm. It was still really noisy.......and I mean really noisy! We waited until 11.00pm and the noise did not let up so I went to complain that last orders were called at 10.00pm so why was the bar still full. The lady from earlier said she would be asking customers to leave in the next 10 or 15 minutes but would move us again if we were not happy. So once again, we moved rooms and finally got some sleep. My advice is if you wanted to book the four poster room.....DON'T!! I don't normally complain but I refuse to believe that the hotel isn't aware of the noise from the bar in this room. You can even hear it over the TV in the room.
Great service; great food; great price.

Having stopped in Lenham, just for a drink in the Dog and Bear, we decided to go back again to meet another couple for lunch today. We were really not disappointed! Our meals were excellent - three of us had the steak pie dish, and one had the salmon. Portions were just right and flavours delicious. We left enough space for desserts - three had the apple pie and I chose the blackcurrant delice, which was so good I was sorry to finish it! The bill (allowing for one free dessert with a voucher) was just £25 a head, which included two pints of bitter shandy, one white wine spritzer and a red wine. Excellent value.
Comfy Stay and Excellent Breakfast

I stayed here with a group of friends while walking the North Downs Way. The rooms are in two parts of the building, the first the old part of the pub and second part in the annex. We stayed in the annex part, facilities were good, we even had a small garden area, it appears that either the rooms are quite new or have had some updates as ours appeared to have a brand new thick pile carpet which was nice. A good night sleep was had, however sound insulation appears limited between floors and walls, but I guess it is an older building, no issues as we didn't have noisy neighbors. The only point to mention was the plumping, water pressure good on the cold feed, but poor on the hot, which meant a poor showering experience. The majority of rooms do have a bath as well so if you have one of these then that could be an alternative option. Breakfast was a particular highlight serving 16 of us we were all served and finished in under an hour with multiple coffee, tea, juice and toast orders, it was an exceptionally well oiled machine. The food came out, hot and also of a good standard, highly recommended. We also had a few drinks in the bar, good selection of beers and ale on tap, and the the dinner options, traditional pub fare but good quality. The only negative to mention was we did have to pre-order, and on arrival we were advised not all pre-orders could be honored due to delivery issues. If you're requiring guests to pre-order then likewise you have the responsibility given the advance notice to ensure the supply.
Pleasant but old fashioned menu

I had a pleasant lunch with a friend. What we had was nice but pretty old fashioned style menu. Could deffo do with expanding their vegan and gluten free options. We had the only vegan option on the menu (burger, standard) and it was pleasant. Not much atmosphere but lovely service.
