Best luxury break for little money we’ve had in long while.

As I haven’t been away for a while and am immunocompromised cleanliness and covid safety is of paramount importance. Old Thorns ticked all the boxes. We were so lucky to get a room just up the corridor from the spa and right next to the leisure. Right near reception and the restaurant. I’ve just had a knee replacement and am still disabled so this was amazing as I didn’t ask. I don’t understand the reviews of tired rooms and outdated facilities and poor value for money? This is the best bargain break We’ve had so far. I bought two deals and spent 4 nights DBB use of facilities. So the WiFi in this particular room was pants plus there’s poor 4g reception (I have 5G ) my phone didn’t work at all much and we had to have a zoom business meeting in the lobby but in another way it forced me to actually have the rest I needed. ALL of the facilities and ALL of the staff were fabulous. Ive stayed in 5star hotels and paid two to three times more just for a room and this was by far total value for money. The room was very very spacious with a small balcony. So ok there was no fridge but it was so cold I put my oat milk on the balcony. There was no water or molton brown or phenhaligons etc but I brought my own so I was worried. I always do and coffee and milk no matter if it’s 2,3,4 &5 star I’m a creature of habit. Those complaining about incidentals should take their own so to avoid dissapointment. I was really really impressed with the quality of the zero shower and hand wash in pump dispensers to save the environment and save guests keep asking for more mini bottles. Shower caps would be good given it’s a spa hotel and perhaps a dispenser of body/hand lotion would be the icing on the cake. We didn’t have the room cleaned the whole 4 days and I’m glad. With this covid going about it’s safer for us and the staff to have this policy. We managed the towels for the stay and asked the staff for what we needed. The spa /wellness The spa is fantastic one of the best in a hotel I’ve seen in a while and of course I was absolutely delighted it was on my doorstep. I had Natalie who did my manicure, pedicure and facial. She’s a delight an asset to the spa, the other ladies who did my waxing and spray tan were equally good I’ve just forgotten their names. All in all my spa experience was fantastic and I bought lots of products in their extensively stocked shop. They have so much to offer. A real girly treat. The wellness centre was lovely, clean and there’s a wide range of facilities. Unfortunately the hot tub didn’t work in both the adult and pool area it was cold and was going to be fixed. I think if someone had booked a full spa day they’d be dissapointed. But it’s one of those things in my home wellness club we have issues like that. So I wasn’t surprised as there’s so much to maintain. The staff in the centre are so helpful. The restaurant the carvery is mediocre it’s well cooked the serving staff on the carvery are very helpful and pleasant to talk to. The waiting staff were all good. Sunshine I think her name is Carla was excellent she was so good at her job and nothing was too much trouble. The waiting staff both morning and evening are all very good. I would have liked some vegetarian food on all nights or fish even. But I’m not going to fuss over this. For my all inclusive deal I would have gone and bought fish and chips and gone to a restaurant but being a true thrift o wanted to get our money’s worth. I still can’t believe what an amazing all in deal this was. Finally from our arrival to departure the reception staff were amazing. The lady on the reception in the evening was so complimentary on my jewellery and so helpful. I was even offered a mask on arrival as I’d left mine in the car. There’s loads of parking too! The whole hotel lobby, champagne bar, spa mezzanine and the seating areas including the restaurant are lovely, well decorated and a lovely ambience We’ve had a lovely time. And will be back it’s only just under 2 hours from our home and a great location. I will definitely book again another 4 days or longer and loads of spa treatments! The bad reviews on here are unjustified. Come and check it out for yourself.

Visited this Hotel for a friends wedding and the venue is stunning. We had the warmest welcome when we arrived, asked about a room as we travelled quite a way and needed to get changed and they had a room ready for us. Room was very clean. Food was amazing. Will defiantly be visiting this hotel again, I would highly recommend. Any anyone thinking of this a venue for a wedding or party defiantly have a look.
Great staff, made our trip wonderful

We were over from the pond, amazing hotel. My sister told me it was slightly larger than when we last visited many years ago. The hotel is totally massive!! The housekeeping staff were great really looked after our rooms nice and clean as well as sorting out a small issue. Thanks to the team for making our trip amazing. I didn’t play golf but the course looked wicked.. well looked after. Am trying to come back before the Christmas season.

My husband and I came here for a night away. We were really impressed with the hotel and facilities. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the spa and pool area was lovely - we particularly enjoyed the adults only area. I have coeliac disease so eating out isn’t always easy. However, the food offered was lovely and of a high quality. I was very impressed with what was offered for breakfast. They even supplied a separate toaster and gluten free bread. We also enjoyed waffles and Ice-cream at Otis diner. Our room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The only downside was that we were given a disable room which meant that the bathroom was a wet room rather than a standard bathroom. The toilet didn’t have a lid and the shower hose didn’t stay up. Other than that, we had a lovely stay and would love to come back and try out the golf facilities - it’s a shame we don’t live closer.
Beautiful Way To Celebrate An Anniversary

We stayed at Old Thorns to celebrate our 1st and 2nd wedding anniversary. We got a fantastic package which included a 3 course meal and breakfast. We also had a free Prosecco voucher on arrival. The hotel itself is beautiful. So modern and despite being really busy we didn’t hear anything from other guests. Great stay and hope to return one day.
