Unable to get refund due to Covid

Due to Covid the booking was cancelled by the hotel, As I was unable to reschedule as the friends I was meeting were coming from Canada and they had there trip cancelled too with no chance of rescheduling. Hi I booked the dates from 11th -14th May
I booked this hotel via Booking.com, who informed me that I had to deal with the hotel direct.
I cannot get any contact with them, despite emails and phone calls, (seemingly no-one can speak English) to give them my credit card details to get a refund.
Booking.com have tried to no avail.

I read a few reviews for this hotel and was a bit anxious about staying there (renovations, unfriendly staff, poor breakfast etc) but none of this was an issue. I always consider the price I have paid to write a fair review for places and this hotel went above the standards I was expecting. The hotel is being worked on and there is noise but only during the day when I was sightseeing. It’s only the first floor and it’s boarded off so no mess elsewhere. The hotel does not have a lift, which it advises of before booking-it is an old hotel with wooden stairs and the staff at check in offered to carry up our bags for us. Helpful and very friendly staff! We asked questions regarding the metro and tram and they knew the answers straight away, they booked taxis for us and we even received emails offering transfer services direct to and from the hotel. Extremely good service. The breakfast was basic, plenty of it and reasonably priced with a nice seating area. As expected. Rooms were small-it’s an old hotel and in the city centre so as expected. They were clean, warm and comfortable with nice little extras in the bathroom (toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, razor as well as shampoo and shower gel). Bed was comfy and linen new. Location is excellent. You can see all the street entertainment from your window and there are bars, restaurants and shops straight outside the hotel door. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life, then definitely book this hotel.
The Pictures Are False Advertising

What a horrible place. It is under renovation and should be closed completely until they are finished. There is no working elevator. Guests have to enter by the side of the building. When we arrived the card reader did not work and guests had to ask at the "front desk" whenever they wanted to enter, or the door was left open which was not secure.
The room was small, which I will accept. I do not accept that the shower head was broken and sprayed against the wall making showering difficult. The shower doors were broken and had to be re-slotted with each push or pull. Even then they did not come near to closing properly. And the mold in the shower was entirely unacceptable! Where was all this in the fancy pictures?
The bathroom was too small to sit straight on the toilet - no room for knees for a person of any size. To make this experience more "enjoyable" there was no toilet paper dispenser forcing one to contort behind the toilet in search of.
The dining room was closed. Guests who wanted breakfast had to go to another hotel.
One night was too many. Like others we were moved to the Avenida Park at their expense. Of the five nights we spent there the elevator was broken for three of them. Up 91 steps.

Very disappointed by this hotel. The hotel is in refurbishment since June and we are now in September!
I had booked 7 rooms for a total of 14 people, at no time anyone called or emailed me re the closure of the hotel.
We have been relocated to Avenida Park, a hotel which is located 3.6kms away. Not the location we planned and paid for.
We sent 3 emails to ask to have the rooms close to eachother, 3 opportunities for the hotel to tell me about the situation and all we heard was « the hotel is fully booked ». It is absolutely scandalous and ridiculous we had to relocate a group of 14people at the very last minute.
Our booking was done in March 2019 for a trip in September 2019. The hotel had been closed since June 2019.
we had booked an airbnb on correiros street which is 30m from the hotel for the rest of the group. Once again our original plan was to be all close to eachother. Due to your unprofessionalism the whole logistics had to change.
You have mislead me and due to your mistake, we have had to book taxis for 14 people everyday in order to meet up, total of around 200€ extra cost.
I gave you enough opportunities to let me know of the situation however you voluntarily decide to hide the truth!
I have spent 946€ booking rooms in your hotel + 200€ extra in taxis due to you lying, so i would be very grateful if you could refund at least half of these costs.
You have damaged the whole weekend because of your unprofessionalism. I expect you to fix this!

Great location,friendly staff,good breakfast,baggage storage,check in and check out times... it s not all like the in photo small cramped rooms[DO NOT TAKE THE ATTIC ROOM AT ALL] ,too expensive for what it has to offer-we slept one night at this hotel
