We've had a lovely stay at the Drovers B&B recently. My husband and I had an impromptu trip across to Wales so that I could attend an interview and we booked into the Drovers B&B as it came up as the best choice for the town. Unfortunately, we didn't leave home at the time we'd hoped and our 200 mile journey took us longer than we'd expected. However, we were welcomed warmly despite the late hour of arrival and shown into a lovely, clean, warm room. Just what we needed after a long day. After a good night's sleep, and a fantastic shower (we live in a tied cottage with a dribble of an excuse of a shower so this was a great treat), we were treated to a lovely cooked breakfast with some great local produce. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming. We were really grateful for the owners to have accomadated our late arrival and letting us check out a little later. It made a stressful time a little easier for me. I would definitely recommend this B&B and I would love to return under more relaxed circumstances.
A splendid overnight stay

We cannot recommend this establishment enough, Jill went out of her way to accommodate us in the early evening on cur late arrival without a reservation!! Lovely comfy bed with good quality bed linen and bathroom essentials, a lovely power shower as well. Breakfast the following morning was delicious, prepared by Jill and Michael, freshly cooked and interesting combinations on offer. Plus their homemade preserves and jams! No hesitation in recommending this establishment.
Perfect place for a perfect getaway

My partner booked The Drovers for a Birthday treat and she made the perfect choice for a 3 night stay. Having seen previous reviews mention checking in first, that's exactly what we did and then Mike met us round the back of the hotel and helped us back our car in. He took us to the Pink room, great choice if you want a lovely relaxing bath and the bed was huge and amazingly comfortable (gave us 3 nights of great sleep). The breakfasts were for me the best I've had in any hotel/B&B, and I've had quite a few good ones over the years, the full Welsh (?) consisted of local sausages and bacon and were always delicious. Both Mike & Jill were friendly hosts and took an interest in our day trips out and gave recommendations on where to eat, The Plough at Rhosmaen being a great choice. All in all we had a lovely time there and will be back next year on our next Welsh road trip. We thoroughly recommend The Drovers..
An absolute haven

A peaceful, well run B&B. We were fortunate enough to stay in the pink room. Spacious with larger than average double bed, bath and shower. A perfect base to relax. No noise from other guests, secure parking and an excellent base to explore the Brecon Beacons from. There is a view of the garden and the mountains in the distance. Breakfast: second to none. Locally sourced produce, with tweaks in a traditional fayre. Plentiful and excellently cooked and presented. There are exciting dishes to try too ( we didn’t on this occasion) lava bread , leek cakes , cockles. The hosts are kind, helpful and efficient, with a wealth of experience in hospitality. They have really thought about making your stay special. They are not intrusive but happy to help and chat. Local pubs/ restaurants vary in quality and price. The best we found was the Whitehall; good basic dishes at a reasonable price. The pub next door, we found expensive. The Bear serves Thai vegan/ vegetarian: but basically a heavily ‘marked’ up Thai vegetable soup. No pets. The owners have two well loved dogs, who are kept well away from the workings of the B&B. We are now B&B converts. We used the trip advisor site to make our choice when we booked and were not disappointed.

We have been to Wales a few times now and stay in different places for a couple of nights before visiting friends. My husband found the Drovers. After looking at what seemed like hundreds of other places we decided to stay here. We arrived mid afternoon and was greeted by Gill one of the owners, what a truly lovely lady she is we then met Mike her husband who greeted us like he had known us for years. We where shown to our room at the top of the house (green room) it was lovely and comfortable, the only thing was the bathroom was rather small but we got by. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous and freshly cooked, homemade Jams and plenty of choice. We had G&T in the evening and asked Gill and Mike to join us in the lounge which they did, what great hosts they both are. We would highly recommend the Drovers, and hopefully one day we will return. Thank you Gill and Mike for a truly lovely stay it was like home from home. Hope yo you see soon.
