A real gem in Central London

We stayed here as we were attending a concert at the Royal Albert Hall and we were not disappointed. The hotel was decorated most tasteful keeping all the original features. The room was spotlessly clean and of a generous size. The shower is certainly one of the best we have had in a hotel and we travel a lot. Taking a comment from a previous review, my husband is 6foot and had no problem in the shower, he just adjusted the height of the head as is normal practice. The breakfast was nice and perfectly adequate to get you set for a day out. The staff were friendly particularly the lady that serves the breakfast . We will certainly return
Nice location but no hot water

Nice location but on our second morning there was no hot water - when we spoke to reception they couldn’t fix it and couldn’t offer an alternative room or solution. It’s not what you’d expect for a hotel of this price and we wouldn’t stay again!
Good hotel, but some points to consider

We chose this hotel for being within walking distance of the Royal Albert Hall, which is only 10 minutes away. The hotel is beautifully appointed, the staff are very helpful and attentive and our room had a great view over the Natural History Museum. For the price, I would say the room was quite small. I'd like to have fresh milk in the fridge rather than gallipots, fresh fruit not tinned at breakfast and hot breakfast items cooked to order rather than in a bain marie.
Great stay near In South Ken

We enjoyed our recent overnight stay at No 54. The hotel was beautifully presented and the staff most helpful. We had a lovely room - comfortable bed and two armchairs where we sat and relaxed before our evening out at the Albert Hall. Great location opposite the museums and close to many eateries in Sth Ken. Breakfast was good although fresh fruit would be a welcome addition. We will definitely return.
Feeling mislead and disappointed

I wonder at the expectations of all the people posting positive reviews and can only surmise that they are obviously significantly less than ours or that they were referring to an entirely different hotel. Sure the location is good and the staff are friendly and efficient. However the reasons for not returning are firstly the level of noise at the front of the hotel which is such that it is impossible to sleep, the bedding feels cheap and uncomfortable. If you are over five foot tall the shower is dismally confined and I strongly recommend that you save your money and don’t book the dreadful breakfast that is unless you like your fruit salad tinned and eggs and bacon wanting rehydration.
