Beautiful modern Hotel

Reviewed 29 november, 2021

Recently visited the South Place Hotel for lunch at its Angler restaurant. Beautiful clean hotel with some very interesting modern twists including some great modern art pieces which decorated the main areas. Food at the Angler restaurant was amazing. Staff were all very friendly attentive and professional. Lovely hotel.

South Place? THE place!

Reviewed 28 november, 2021

Short version: If you’re looking for a wonderful place to stay, look no further then South Place because it is THE place. Detailed version: My partner, baby (6m old) and I stayed here and it was, hands down, the most wonderful hotel experience I have had. Ever. In any country. The room was spacious, the decor visually pleasing, the atmosphere and ambience remarkable and, the facilities are all you could need. My partner spent a fair amount of time in the sauna and the bathtub (which could have fit the 3 of us and the latter part of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ - including the partridge AND the pear tree) and loved every minute. Relaxation and luxury are a delectable combination. For me, the food was a particular highlight as it was simply divine. I was unsure of what to have, as so much on the Chop House dinner menu sounded great but the waiter advised me to have the braised longhorn rib and oh, my. I could not do it justice with words, so I won’t try. In spite of my love for the food, I must say that the thing which stood out the most was actually the staff. Friendly, warm, welcoming and attentive are just a few words I could use. One can argue “it’s their job” but let’s be honest, how many people have experienced poor service? Precisely. If you’re looking for a wonderful place to stay, look no further then South Place because it is THE place. Thank you to each and every individual that made our stay so lovely.

Another wonderful stay

Reviewed 22 november, 2021

Excellent location with both Liverpool Street Station and Moorgate very close which makes it easy to explore the city and nearby Spitalfields. A welcome and slick check in. Comfortable and stylish room, fab bathroom, plus loads of mod cons and thoughtful extra touches. Delicious breakfast. Thank you to all the team.

Not a luxury hotel.

Reviewed 13 november, 2021

I have no idea what makes them think they can state this as a luxury hotel. The room was small, despite me upgrading to the Eldon room. Nothing in the room screamed luxury to me. The bed was small and pillows were pathetic. The WiFi never worked and our tiny window had a view of a dirty roof and a brick wall. I've honestly been to better premier inns. The breakfast was awful. I had a full English (well that's what they called it). The whole lot seemed like it was cooked with a flame thrower. You got one half sausage, a tiny piece of black pudding, a few extra crispy bits of bacon fat, a teaspoon worth of beans and one small slice of toast that you could break your teeth on. The evening meal there was good and the decor is nice. The hotel just seems to cater for people who have more money than sense who think they're getting luxury because they've been told this is luxury. Go to a premier Inn. Better breakfast, comfier beds and bigger rooms. I regret coming here. I know what luxury is and this isn't it. At the prices charges here for rooms and the extras you can get much more for your money elsewhere.

Disappointing weekend stay

Reviewed 8 november, 2021

Really excited for this 2 night weekend stay and left fairly disappointed. The hotel was in a great location and the staff were very nice. But the room was very tired. The room door didn’t open properly when pushed and I needed to ask staff to help, turns out you need to push the centre of the door to open it rather than pushing the handle, even then it was difficult to open. The room was clean and tidy, but the furniture and surrounding areas were well warn cupboard doors not closing, scratches everywhere, not what you expect for nearly a £300 a night room. The pillow’s were terrible really thin you could play origami with them and bed was uncomfortable. We both left with bad backs.
